Question do I need to contact Kai before sending knife in or do I just fill out paper and send it in?

Wish I would've know this before trying to take screw out lol does all the thread insert sit uneven as well as sitting out? part of thread sits in further so its not even flat which made me think it could go in further

This is a quote from Steven at KAI regarding the screw size..." The two screws that we have listed are 2-56 x .090 and 2-56 x .360. I believe the 2-56 x .360 are for the handle and the other is for the CF scale and/or lock bar puck."

I just hope they can get stripped screw out of the knife and replace it. It will need to be drilled out by tje looks of it, thats how much pressure I had to put behind it and it still didnt move

The way I see it you have 2 choices: drill it out yourself, or pay for a professional to drill it out.
I vote for the latter, if they goof it up they can fix it/ replace it for little to no problem.

I wouldn't think its covered under warranty since you stripped it. It may cost you something; so I would call to see the total cost. (shipping, repair cost, screw?)

I don't see it that way but understand how you do.....only reason screw got stripped is because of design fault or building issue with the screw thread on the clip side sticking out very very far compared to the other two. I was only trying to take screw out in order to fix the problem with the thread its screwed into. Others in thread have come across same issue with the thread piece seems to be an issue from factory to me it shouldn't be sticking out that far where it stabs the palm of my hand, if I was able to remove screw it would just fall of the knife.

Yeah im taking this as a big learning experience with using heat and better bits......just hope to get problem fixed thats main thing now, I wont be able to think of anything else tell its back fixed in my hands.

I hope ZT comes through for me....I own like 20 of there knives but its first time sending one in.

Got my 0777 back yesterday after only 3 weeks being gone. They replaced stripped screw and put thread insert into handle so its flush like the other two, was done free.

Be cautious using heat for loctite on carbon fiber inserts/screws. I've seen a lot of carbon fiber items, not knives particularly, damaged by people trying to do the same thing. Usually if you get it hot enough to free the loctite you've damaged the epoxy resign used in the CF itself, or weakened the epoxy used to hold the threaded insert in place, unless you have a variable heat soldering iron or something similar that you can keep from getting too hot.
