looks exactly the same to me. ZT has changed suppliers for cf in the past, its possible they did the same with these models too. here's a pic of mine side by side. crappy picture but that was the best one I could get. they both have a similar texture to them. its not glossy not smooth but not rough either.

My 804 CF was much smoother out of the box, than my 562/452cf. But, I actually buffed it a bit more. Now has a bright shine to it. I'll probably not use it out in mud/rain/snow. I have other knives for that. For me, the 804 is my larger "Gent" knife.

They are great. All I have to say. AMAZING action. the detent is perfect and it is uber smooth. Needs a detent ramp though, it can feel a little awkward to close.
