Man, this is a great knife! Just the right size, opens smooth, good steel, locks perfect and also a good looking knife to. I am sure this one will be carried a lot. If you don't own one and like ZT's you should look into this one. I will have to say that with the short flipper and strong detent the knife is hard to flip open. I am going to send mine back.

From love it to sending it back in less than 2.5 hrs...so sad.
How many times did you flip it before deciding it wasn't for you?

Not many, but I knew I would not carry it, because so many other ZT's are so easy to open. The 450 is a lot easier to open I think.

Maybe get some reps in on the finger press?! Really tho...hard to flip open? My 450 fires harder than my 470...but everyone's experience is different. One of the many reasons its nice to be able to have somewhere to go to try before you buy (if you can). Stiff for some is loose to others. Though if you think a production ZT has a stiff flipper I'd love to see you try and open a Pohan Leu custom Hamachi...took me a week or two to get used to the detent setup he puts on his knives.

My 0470 took 2 weeks to grow on ne and it is know in my top 2 ZTs
Best action on mine even compared to my 0562 and my 0801 who have great actions

I bought a ZT 0460ti during a BF sale for an absolute steal and had the same sentiments when it came to the size of the flipper tab and how hard it was to open.

Well, I played with it for a couple weeks and now it is nice and broken in and has the same great action as my 0450cf.

I'd keep it around for a bit and you just might change your mind.

Detent on mine is actually pretty soft, and there's a touch of detent play. It is my favorite ZT though. Just have to be deliberate about opening it

Glad to see you are keeping yours, I do enjoy mine quite a bit.

Marbled carbon fiber...yummy!

Glad to hear you decided to keep it. It's one of the nicest ZTs in production, and that's saying something cuz they make a lot of great knives.

I really wanted to get one of these, might be my favorite looking ZT.
I carry the Atmos a lot (30$ version), the only thing holding me back for the 470 is the PLAIN TI side.
Seems to be the trend with a lot of US made folders. A lot of designs have inlays on the lock side for the same price.
Most of the time the inlay will cover part of the lock bar which can prevent that problem of putting finger pressure on the lock bar when opening

Im just fine with only 1 side of marbled cf goodness. The other side is clipped to my pocket and with the lockbar it doesnt leave much room.

Mine has a glassy smooth action and the detent is right in the middle aka perfect!

Hope you dont get off the rollercoaster again too soon and enjoy your new ZT!

I have decided to keep the 470. Peakbagger45 was right, I was putting pressure on the lock bar. It opens fine now. It is a fine looking and very well made knife. I would have regretted selling it. Thanks everyone for the good advice.

Glad you figured out the issue. It is a great knife. Between that and an XM-18 skinny, I have stopped carrying anything else (for now, anyway).

I actually wasn’t in love with the looks, a bit too “pimptastic”. The excellent egros and great blade design won me over. Added a deep carry clip designed for the 0450, now its darn near perfection.

Glad to hear you are going to give it a chance.

I love the way the handle swell on the back fills your hand. It is a little small for my tastes (I am a bit of a galoot), but I love the look of it - classy and a nice one to break out for "gentleman's day" outings.

best

Light pressure on this knife's lock bar does make it hard to flip. That is a problem with frame locks I have found. I do prefer a liner lock on many knives because of this. I ended up making a new clip for this knife because the original clip hit the lock bar making it difficult to flip. Any pressure on this new clip does not contact the lock bar. I hate taking my knife out of my pocket and have to think about how I am holding it so the flipper works properly.
