My local brick and mortar finally got their hands on a few ZT 560's and 561's. I had my heart set on the 561 but it had fit, finish and function issues. For that reason, I took function over color preference and went with the 560. Anyway, enough of all that. While comparing the 560 to some of my other blades, I was really interested in the comparison between the 560 and the new Manix XL. The size, weight, ergos and overall feel are very similar so I took a few side by side photos. Anyway, I love my 560 and will never ever regret the purchase however I'm intrigued that a Manix XL is less than half the price and in some ways, could out preform the 560 with it's full flat grind.

I love the Manix 2 xl but the 0560 is in a different league altogether for me.

The materials and features on the ZT make it better in every area IMHO.

I know there are many differences, but one thing that jumps out at me is difference in clip design and depth of carry. The ZT disappears in the pocket, and the XL (unlike the standard Manix, which has excellent clip placement) leaves a big chunk of G10 sticking out there. Some may like it, but I sorta dig deep carry.

I don't design knives, so I have no idea what I'm talking about. But I do carry them. :)

I have both as well, and so far I think I like them about equally, both have great ergonomics, I prefer the Elmax to S30V, and as powernoodle said, the Manix XL does stick out of pocket a little too much for me. Of my two the Manix XL is actually smoother opening. One was $89 shipped, the other $260 shipped, I really like both and will definitely be keeping both.

To respond to the statement made by P1geonpoo, yes, the 560 is truly in a league of it's own. If you are on a strict budget and need the best performance for your buck, the Manix XL has to be the best buy but damn, the 560 is really effin sweet. The flipper and KVT system is simply amazing and the knife hasn't left my hand in two days (aside from sleep). My only beef with the 560 is the jimping on the thumb ramp. It may be effective in a gloved hand but otherwise provides little if any grip. The jimping on the lockbar also digs into my index finger and hurts a bit when I hold it tightly but it's not really much of an issue. As for the Manix XL, yea, the clip placement kinda sucks and they really should have skeletonized the liners but it is what it is. With the Manix XL priced at or slightly under $100 bucks, I'll likely drill out the liners and move the clip and not worry about the rough diy custom look.

Thanks for the comparison bubblin

You could probably use a low rider pocket clip, though it might cover some of the lanyard hole.
