I have a new 0560 lock up is at 60 percent is this normal for a new one? For reference my first gen 0550 is only at 25 percent.

It varrys, I have 2 and one locks up at 50 and one is around 60. They are fully broken in but I don't remember them being much different before break in

I got a new 561 that locks up at like 60% and the lock is grabby and machined and flat contact, awesome and really strong.

My first 560 ser1327 is about 40-50% and has a smooth and radius ed lockface, still strong but is easier to close.
Neither of them have moved, So I would say your all good.

I prefer lockups that are at 50% or more. Early lockups are fine for collectors I guess.

if a lockup is at 60-65% is this a problem? in long term use does this become an issue? thanks

Sikmike, sitting here looking at my Mar 2007 daily user Ti/ZDP Mini Cyclone, the lockup is somewhere between 40 and 50%. Its been that way since Day 1, and I carry the knife most every day. I don't think you'll have any problems.

I figured as much, thanks it's just nice to hear that from longer lived knives.

My 561 is about a month old and the lockup is about 50-55%. (For comparison my brand new Southard is about 40%, and a CRKT Eros that I've had for almost a month is 95+%. It's a very small knife for a framelock, though, so I don't think that's unusual.)

I've had my 560 for about a month and the lockup is about 50% its not that bad actually...

So jealous, thats my grail knife.

My ZT0560 was at 50% when I bought it new, and after flicking it a few hundred times over the course of a week it's now at about 60%. It also really smoothed out. It was really sticky at first. Now it's almost butter.

My lockup is around 70%.
Then again it was a knife I used for abuse testing.

My lock up is around 60% and sticky as all hell. I tried pencil lead and it didn't work so i did the sharpie trick which will last about a week. My question is, is it still covered under warranty if i decide I'm done trying to remedy the issue myself? I wasn't sure if having magic marker on the tang and lock face would void it. There's nothing worse than a stuck lock and freezing cold hands, I've had to pry it open more than once.

Good thread by the OP. Has answered all my questions about my 561 blem from Dave on the lockup. Good to know 66% is probably normal lockup.
