ZT 560 w Veff serrations

Seems like they're great for slice/slashing type cuts, but how well do the serrations push cut?

You got me wanting to give them a try, might have to pick up a CRKT with'em.

I just did some push cuts through cardboard and it sliced through like a straight edge. This is probably due to the large scallops on the serrations which gives it enough edge to cut straight down. Hope this helps.

Damn those serrations are sexy on both of the ZTs in thise thread! Ive had a couple M21-14SFGs and M16-14SFGs and I loved the serrations. They are amazingly functional. But I dont like any other serrations, I dont like fully serrated edges or combo edges, unless its with veff serrations. I just got my ZT 303 today and I think they would look very sexy added to my new knife. Ive never been able to sharpen serrations though, I have a Sharpmaker which is supposed to be good for knives with the spyder-edge serrations, do you think the Sharpmaker would work on veff serrations? If so I think Id like to have Veff serrations added to both my ZT 350SW and my new ZT 303.

Again, very sexy knives!!!

I don't have any experience with the sharpmaker, but just looking at it I don't think it would work. You really need the round file to follow the contours of the serrations.

I've been pretty spoiled living so close Veff's shop though, I just pass by once a month or so and have him touch up the edges......

The corners of sharpmaker rods work very well for small serrations, but, as sicario said, you will need round rods to do ones as large as Veff makes them.

I spoke with Tom Veff today about adding some serrations to my Severtech. He said he does them as small as 3/8". SICARIO, do the ones on your 0560 actually measure 3/4" from tooth to tooth? They do not look that big. I am trying to figure out how many of the 3/8" serrations will fit on my blade from the base to the second hole along the spine. If you Google an image of a Severtech you will see what I am talking about. The blade length is 3.95".

They are 3/4" tip to tip. I had originally asked for 1/2" serrations, but left it to his judgement to put what he thought would look good. He said he put in one 1/2" serration and thought they looked too small. The four look good, but I think 5 1/2" ones would have looke pretty slick too.

I think your severtech would look good with four or five 3/8" or 1/2" serrations.
