ZT 561 one day of use chipped blade

I tend to put an edge on them straight out of the box just because anyway, had no idea it was possibly helping to prevent chips and rolls.

Just think of it this way. The more obtuse the edge, the more robust. The narrower the edge, the more chance for deformation or chipping. ;)

There is always the possibility of a blade that is not quite up to snuff.
If you feel this is possible I suggest contacting ZT and return the knife for them to check out and do whatever warranty, if warranty it is, work/replacement is necessary.

I have three ZT's and never a problem.
My blades are sharpened to 20 degrees per side using the Lansky system.

I just got an Elmax blur in. While it wasn't chipped had a hella big burr on the left side. Sharp maker took care of that. I always sharpen out the factory edge on most of my knives. Went to the basement and broke down several boxes for snitz and giggles. Went upstairs and it was still shaving hair off my arm. I might I've the feel of S30v better which is neither here nor there. It's a user so use it!
