This is the smoothest opening and closing knife I have ever owned, and that includes a Shiro I own now. The blade is centered, it locks up early and solid. It has never been used or carried. I did touch the edge a few times on a sharpmaker when I got the knife because it was not as sharp as I like. It will drop shut when you unlock it.
