Just started looking into this knife and I'm sorta getting the idea that the Elmax steel isn't working good in this knife. Something about burnt edges or poor heat treat. What's going on? Are the current production ones still having these issues or is this knife good to go? Playing around with the idea of giving this one a try.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks.

It's hands down, without a doubt my favorite production folder. I've got three of them, one of which is the CF variation. It's so smooth and I can get That edge insanely sharp. It hardly ever leaves my pocket. Definitely good to go. Enjoy!

The zt 801 is an amazing knife. I love the 801 its been in my pocket almost everyday since its release. The steel is very good, it holds an edge very well. With very little effort a hair popping edge can be put back on to it when it needs it. The 801 is great value for money. And should you ever wish you can customize it to your own tastes.

It is a great knife for the $$.
Excellent, smooth flipper too...

Good to go. This one was a surprise to me. I'm not that big of a flipper fan, and wasn't sure I would like it. And thought it kind of looked funny too. But it has become one of my favorites. Mine has great flipping action, and I've never had a problem with Elmax.

I generally prefer a smaller knife, but I wanted a quality bearing flipper. I am amazed at how great this knife is, and it quickly became my favorite. Really solid knife with silky smooth action. As others mentioned, it is easy to modify if you decide to go that route. If you decide to pick one up, definitely check out kershawguy.

Perhaps I had low expectations at that point of time but the 0801 is straight up one of the most impressive knife out of the box and looks real classy as well! Extremely solid knife!

Do a search and stop repeating the incorrect opinions of a few vocal dummies.

By vocal dummy do you mean the KAI moderator who himself said there was initially a problem with their ELMAX that has since been resolved?

IIRC , it was a very early issue with the 560 line that was resolved in a timely fashion.

I had a very early one that I believe had the issue and IMO it was still a good user.

I have several later and definitely a really good steel IMO.
