ZT 801 - good to go?

Good to go on the Elmax, eventhough I'm admittedly one of those folk who aren't overly fond of it. One tip someone gave me I'd like to pass on to you is this.

Once you get the knife, take out the male pivot screw and wrap the threading in 5 passes of teflon tape. Some of the tape will exceed the length of the screw. Just twist this into a point and reinsert the screw.

The 0801 features a pivot screw similar to the Lionsteel SR1 and SR2. The problem with these pivots is that the tend to come loose pretty easily. Added to that is the fact that the threading on them is overly wide meaning blue loctite has a hard time locking it down enough. Now not everyone seems to have this problem but I did and many others do as well ( google is your friend). The teflon wrap is an elegant and effective solution!
 
I think ZT's elmax is amazing so far. I've used it for awhile and it seems require a lot less sharpening than s30v. YMMV , but I love the stuff.
 
The 801 is great! One of my favorites, I'll use all my folders at work at not one problem with elmax
 
Best production flipper out right now. Just one man's opinion, but everyone else here seems to agree it's a great knife.



 
The 0801 is one of my favorite carries. Even a novice can flip it. The Elmax has been great and I carry several folders with it. Sharpens easily and takes a nice edge. I have no complaints with Elmax.
 
Look at it this way. The crappiest heat treated blade that ZT has ever accidentally let escape Tulatin will still hold an edge longer than the best knife ever shipped out of the Emerson factory.
 
The problem is definitely resolved. I have one of the first 801s that was made and it did have some slight edge retention issues. All I did was sharpen it with a wet stone and then strop it, problem was solved. The models we have in stock now we have had no complaints on. The serial number on the ones now are 5000 and higher. I would buy with confidence, it is an amazing knife! Just as an FYI, I still carry mine all the time!

Wow. What's that one? Limited run? Blue anodizing?
 
The 801 is one fantastic folder. I have many $500 range framelocks and several $1000 range; what's in my pocket right now? A ZT0801 CF! The best bang for the buck out there! Make sure to check out usamadeblade, they are the ZT goto.

The 801 is the Best knife for the money hands down! The 801cf is amazing and will spoil you. You won't regret it.
 
The 0801 is my favorite ZT. I carry an 0801 almost every day.
 
ZT should give you all a job.

Now I kinda want one too. I always thought it would be a little big for me.

If they gave me a job, my commute would go from 45 minutes to about 5 minutes. Maybe I should look into that :)
