ALL LIMITED EDITION ZERO TOLERANCE TO BE SOLD CONSUMER-DIRECT FROM THIS WEBSITE ONLY

Beginning later this year, this website will be the only place you can purchase Zero Tolerance Limited Edition knives.

We’re doing this to give you the opportunity to purchase these highly desirable knives in a single, convenient online location—without aftermarket price gouging, having to pay in advance for pre-orders, or searching multiple retailers to see who has the product in stock. Plus, since we will sell these Limited Edition knives only after we have completed our production run, you won’t have to wait for your knife either. Once you order it, it will be on its way to you.

HERE’S HOW IT WILL WORK:

We will preview Limited Edition knives on this website as we have always done.
Two weeks before the products will be available for purchase, we will begin making announcements on this website and in our social media to tell you exactly when the knives will go on sale.
Want to know even sooner? Sign up for our opt-in email list—you’ll be the first to know when the Limited Edition ZTs will be available for purchase.
HINT: You can sign up for our opt-in mailing list on any product page on this website.

You may purchase only one Limited Edition knife per household.
We will not accept pre-orders; purchasing begins on the day we announce and continues while supplies last. Full details to come when the announcement is made.
Limited Edition knives will be sold at full MSRP plus shipping.
Products cannot be shipped to PO Boxes.
Offer valid in the US and Canada only.

ABOUT LIMITED EDITION ZERO TOLERANCE KNIVES:

We will make only a limited number of these special products; we will disclose the final number of Limited Edition knives once manufacturing has been completed.
All Limited Edition ZTs will have a unique serial number for easy authentication; we are sorry, but you may NOT request a specific serial number.
All Limited Edition ZTs will include a Certificate of Authenticity and will come in special Limited Edition packaging.

FIRST TO GO ON SALE:

The Zero Tolerance 0454 and 0392

Please note that we do not have a scheduled sale date at this time.

Remember, to be among the first to know when our Limited Edition knives will be available, sign up on our mailing list on any product page.

Thanks for posting and it's good to get the official line on how the ZT Limited Editions will be sold directly by ZT.

Right now, you cannot go the product page of either ZT 0392 or ZT 0454 and sign up for email notification.

I believe what they mean is you can sign up for their general newsletter which will also let you know when the LEs become available to purchase. That is how I read that and went ahead and signed up for the newsletter.

I did signup for the newsletter.

I like the idea but nothing is happening when I click on the "sign up for our newsletter" button on the site.

It should prove interesting, if production numbers are fairly high, say 200+ I'd guess most people that are motivated and are at the keyboard and waiting when sales start should have a good shot at one at full MSRP prices.

If on the other hand say for the hinderer they only release 25-50 of each variation at a time, it's going to be very tough. Les George has been trying a very similar version with the new Talos and it takes less than 45 seconds from the start time to sell out 30+ knives, and ZT is likely to have way more people in the know and lined up for these. If that's the case, and the cart system does not "reserve" the knife in your cart until you complete checkout, I'd start honing up those typing speed skills and memorizing credit card/exp. date/CID numbers.

I've played that game with Jordan shoes. Once you get a routine straightened out (timing, backup PC available, CC info ready, notify housemates to stay off the net etc.), your chances of acquiring one significantly goes up.

I know ZT monitors these threads: Guys if you haven't already... Make sure you look out for bots.

Sounds like another ZT marketing ploy. If its only going to be available from their direct website why is it on other websites already like bladeHQ? http://www.bladehq.com/item--Zero-Tolerance-0454-Carbon-Fiber--18064

LE's like the 0454 were already announced long before this decision to sell them direct. Many online dealers create pages for knives right when they are announced. I'm pretty sure that they really mean it when they announced that LE's will be sold to customers direct only.

Doesnt that defeat the purpose? Why build a LE knife and sell it to 2nd market sites for months and then cut supply to just your website? Naturally, the second hand market will be dried up by then anyway, this seems like a traditional move for most knifemarkers, 2nd hand market is only hot when direct website supply is dry.

They did this to help stop people from buying multiples in order to sell it themselves for ridiculous amounts and to stop some (not all) dealers from doing the same.
Edit to add: And the pre-orders the dealers have been taking on the 0454 haven't been done so with KAI's blessing, considering they meant it to be a dealer lottery before they decided this.

Well, sadly, this won't stop that at all. Here in the redneck states, you'll have guys who have their aunts, uncles, brother's wife's sister's neice's parents, and their own parents all ordering the one knife at MSRP to sell on Fleabay or here on the Exchange for $1,000 apiece.

You know someone at KAI is going to be like "Huh, what are the odds that ten different people from Bumsmurf Nowhere, Georgia all want a ZT 0454?"

LOL

I don't think we are on the same page.

LE knives like the 0454 will not be sold AT ALL by dealers. Doesn't matter if they started a "coming soon" page for them.

It might help stop some multiple purchase but it won't stop serious flippers, I'd bet at least half of the people lined up for these are going to be dealers and flippers. Guys that were scouring dealers, putting down deposits etc. they will just enlist friends/family to do it, or have X computers set up with different check out info. It's never been easy to get 4-5 of ZT's LE knives at pre-order prices, the guys that were doing it, will find a way to keep doing it.

It may actually make secondary markup prices WORSE, think about it, instead of guys marking up from prices well below MSRP, the starting point for markup is now MSRP. The MSRP on the 0777 was $600, if guys were not getting them pre-order under $400, they'd now be $1000 instead of $600-700.

I DO think that it gives the average internet guy a better chance at getting one though at MSRP when they first open the flood gates, if you have a fast computer/internet, after that it's secondary market as usual. Though all those guys that support local shops and don't live on the internet, they will never even see them.
