ZT collabs you think would be cool

Personally I think zt should collaborate with companies or makers that have known quality issues. The first name that comes to mind happens to be emerson. The general consensus is that emerson has great designs but could benefit from zt's quality control.
Why would you want a collab from makers that you already like? They are rocking it already.

Collaborating with good makers would be to put those designs within the reach of an everyman. Not everyone can afford custom prices, so a more accessibly priced ZT with similar designs would be great.

I think zt prices are fast approaching mid tech levels. Esp after the zt 0801cf

I'm sure owning a böker epicenter is nothing like owning a real rexford..

Those claims are way over blown. I've owned many Emersons and never had a QC issue. I have had more QC issues with Kershaws and ZT's than any Emerson. Maybe it was true in the past, but it isn't true now.

I'm not saying they never have problems, every company does. It's one of those perpetual knife myths, like CRK voiding a warranty due to flicking.

ZT with RJ Martin - love his ergos and striated blades!
How about a ZT/Andre Devilliers (ADV) collab? Love the Butcher - it's almost ZT-ish anyway, how about a full-production model!

To me there's nothing like an Emerson. The 154cm works perfectly for me, my most recent Emerson has fit and finish identical to the ZT0560 I used to have, all my Emersons cost me just as much or less than the ZT version, Emerson's customer service has treated me great which I can't say for ZT.

They are the perfect knife company for me, maybe not for everyone else though.

Eh, one thing to note is that ZT is selling you a knife with a Ti framelock, 3D machining on both sides, and an Elmax, M390, or S30V blade for about $180-200. You won't find any of those on an Emerson at that price - in fact the few Emerson framelocks out there push $300-400 without having most of the features ZT offers.

Don't get me wrong - I like my Emersons - I rotate a CQC7AW and SOCFK-B SW in my EDC, but ZT could easily offer the best of both worlds by producing Emerson designs.

Given past experiences I think it's significantly more than just a myth, but it does seem to have been corrected in the past few years. I'm still not a huge Emerson fan, but from what I've seen, heard and experienced they've really improved their QC.

APEC, I'm not saying the ZT collabs aren't good, I'd just rather have the real deal. Personally I don't want the super steels, or the 3D machining on an Emerson. That's not what Emerson is about. 154cm and G10 suits me just fine. I don't care what ZT offers me, I'll always want a true Emerson. I don't care about price either. So I won't be getting all the ZT bells and whistles, that's not why I buy Emersons. When I want super steels, or 3D machining, or Ti frame locks, I'll use one of my Hinderers. (Not the ZT collab versions either)

I don't expect everyone to be an Emerson fan, that would make this hobby really boring. But it's true, they have stepped up their game a lot.

I think the point of a ZT collab is taking a knife design that is very limited or very expensive and making it available to more knife users than the original maker can. That's why the ZT/Hinderer collab was and still is so popular. To me, it doesn't make sense for ZT to collaborate with, for example, Spyderco or Benchmade or Microtech. Those knives are not extremely expensive or rare, and they do their own versions of "factory customs" like ZT does.

ZT collaborating with Microtech? - who brought that up?

Really...after Microtech ripped off ZT's award winning 2011 Blade design (0777) and continues to produce those clones?

I'm still saying zermano. I'd love to see their takes on his designs.

I'd like to see a regular production version of the 0888. Or do production versions of Shirogorov's knives. Since especially now they've become like hinderers and go for crazy amounts.

I did. And this thread is not about what we hope will happen, just what we think would be cool.

I still want ZT and Cold Steel. Brian Tighe as well.
