ZT dream knife!

Congratulations on your dream knife. That is a most impressive knife. I know for many it is a grail knife. Sorry, I can’t help you with how many were made. I don’t recall ZT ever releasing that kind of data.

Thanks! Hmmmmm, Maybe we should start a 454 registry 🤔

I don't believe ZT releases production numbers on the limited edition, which is why it makes no sense that they place a unit number on the blade of each LE knife. Yea! My ZT 0095BLK S90V is unit 399! But of how many? Completely irrelevant IMO and just more stuff that does not need to be on the blade.

I remember when the 0454 was released, and its definitely cool. I prefer sub frame locks to regular frame locks.

Nice!! Tough to get when they first came out, then were available on the secondary market for a bit!! Then they just seemed to go in people's safes! You don't see them that often anymore!!

Congrats!

I'd love to own that knife too so that I can add it to my 3 knife 0452 collection but I know that I'd never be willing to pay the asking price for it. It's not that I don't have the $ but because I have a firm limit on what I'll pay for a knife and I'm sure that what you paid is a lot more than my limit.

It was definitely a lot more than the original MSRP but a lot less then the $1200-1500 I've seen them listed for before. I'm OK with paying more for something that is long discontinued and rare. I wasn't even in the knife game when it came out so I didn't have much of a choice anyways 😂

Congo rats! I had forgotten about that one.

I'm probably too cheap to ever buy one for what they go for nowadays but I still do a search for a ZT 0500 MUDD now and then. That is MY ZT dream knife.

The MUDD is another cool one! ZT needs to bring back the higher end crazy stuff... There's definitely a market for $400+ ZT's and it's obvious they have amazing machining capabilities when they want to put in the effort.

That's in the price range that I paid for each of these rifles --a 308 and 223 bull barrel, the latter zeroed in at 200 yards -- including the bipods, scopes and CA legal stocks.

So, you can see that I'd have a "relative value" problem paying that much for any knife.

I'll just have to "make do" with the other 40 ZTs that I already own which are collectively worth at least $10-15k but did not cost more than $500 each individually.

LOL! ;)

Absolutely! I like a lot of the older models that were underrated or limited in their day, like the 0400 for example.
I would love if they did a TI version of the Shield (Hinderer Eklipse). I think they could sell it at a more reasonable price and the QC would be possibly a little better.
Or at the least, always have one beastly Tanto folder in the lineup, and a fixed blade too.

The 0454 is a pretty nice knife, I had one when they were first released. Used the heck out of it and sold it a couple years ago. The ergonomics on those are very nice.

Never liked the looks of the MUDD 0500 and passed on quite a few of them.

Even sold a MUDD auto that I got direct from G&G. Thought I sold it for a good price at the time but I obviously sold it too soon. LOL! ;)

On the other hand, I really like the 0400, I've got both of the variations - PE & PS.

Fact is, the only ZTs that I like anymore are all older models. I've got 40 of them, including the 0400's.

Nothing new that ZT has released in the past couple of years has come close to compelling me to buy it, either because they are too small or unattractive to me (eg., 0022 & 0223) or just a variation of something they've already done before (eg., 0308).

But the fact that I know this means that I'm still looking and hoping that ZT will come up with something better that lives up to the reputation that it built up in the past.

How many ZT’s do you own? Remind me one more time.

I hear you. The slipjoints are comical for a company that’s reputation is “built like a tank”.... I have about 40 also, many of them are different variations of the same model (3 0562s, 3 0566s, 3 0801s, 6 0452s etc., mostly the older models.)
For newer stuff I like the 0357 for the price (and yes I think it is worth the extra $ over the 20cv Link because of the grippy g10.) the 0707 is ok too but more of a weapon/showpiece than a workhorse.
I am looking forward to the 0990 however, and the 0470 has been tempting me lately: Also I regret not getting a 0920 while they were available. So I’m not giving up on the new stuff yet.... and they still have my favorite 0452 in the lineup so I’m hoping they do another sprint run with that one.
