I don't get it ! ZT + GTC = hell no.
It was obviously designed purely for looks, and doesn't look like a practical cutting tool at all.

its a wharncliff with a compound grind... how could it not be practical...lol

Its going to be an EDC beast.

It's going to be a great knife. Not for everyone....but still a cool, well made and very usable knife.

Still can't figure out why all the ZT hate on BF.

There're a lot of knives that don't work for me or that i don't like the looks of. Not a fan of Toyota's, won't buy one myself, but they make a quality car.

Not a practical cutting tool? Seriously? It has a sharpened edge...how could it not be a practical cutting tool?

I get it may not be for a portion of the "community" but to make the call that it isn't capable or functional before even handling it is quite foolish.

I can make the call that it will be without handling it haha.

The compound grind is done correctly and not backwards. There is a small area at the back that is thicker where you can cut through stuff that is a little tougher. The front grind looks noticeable thinner in the picture which will help with slicing.

If it's a full on airborne blade, that means it's a wharncliff which we all know is one of the most usable blade shapes.

The angling up of the blade means that if you are doing food prep, the handed will be off the cutting surface making life so much easier.

I don't understand why people get upset when companies make knives some people want. If it isn't your cup of tea, don't buy it. I happen to like knives that push the envelope a little bit, I'm sorry if you don't, I think you're missing out, but I respect your opinion, even if I don't understand it.

This grind is very similar to the Reate Fallout 2 which I found to be very impractical for EDC tasks. It'll cut stuff, I guess. I'm curious what the price will be and what else ZT brings to market. For my uses this particular design doesn't fit. I felt the same about the Fallout. My brain admires the...ummm..."engineered" design but my hand hates it. At least it looks a little different, it's got that going for it...

The nice thing about BladeForums is that while we all love knives, we may have differing opinions about them. I don't think people are getting upset, they're merely criticizing. Unfortunately, text makes it easy to misinterpret what some people are really trying to say.

While I agree that it's likely going to be a wharncliff... they still haven't shown the tip of the blade yet.

That being said, the prototype pics I saw elsewhere have me extremely excited.

The grind is literally the opposite of that knife. The Fallout 2 compound grind is done poorly and backwards. The top is the chunky part and the heel is the thin part which makes NO SENSE. It's also an impractical blade shape.

Not even close to the same thing.

Some would argue that the thin grind being closer to the handle is much better for controlled fine cutting. Either way, compound grinds in general are silly and impractical.

Goofy knife. Not surprised, though.

I just want more 0770 like designs with manual opening. 0909 is no bullshit design too but it's a pocket brick.

Seems the complaints go like this:
"This company doesn't have enough variety of designs! They suck!"
"This company has too many designs! They suck!"

Now as for the knife this thread is about, I personally do not want it.
But I'm sure it will cut things just fine, and will be solidly built.

Zero Tolerance has enough design going that I could make much more money and spend it all recklessly on designs I do want. :)

And some people do want this design, so good for ZT making it.

I have not been a big fan of the GTC design stuff, but now that ZT is collaborating, it will give be a chance to try it out for myself first-hand and see why they are so popular in the custom world.

I promise to use one to cut up an apple.....

It would be hard to make a determination about the functionality of the knife without:

a - seeing both sides of the knife
b - holding it in my own hands
c - trying to use the knife myself

Good job on ZT going out there and cultivating more custom makers.

I am kinda excited to be able to try a spring loaded tab opener.

best

KAI spent a fair amount of time cultivating an, "us vs them," attitude in their fans against their critics. Often even when the critics where fans. That's left a lot of strong feelings on both sides.

This is total BS.

They left the forum because of a few trolls who were not policed in any way shape or form.

This emboldened them to come in and thread crap in every single ZT thread. Literally got to the second reply before someone came in talking trash about ZT instead of the knife that was trying to be discussed. No other major manufacturer of knives gets openly disrespected the way KAI does.

Someone posted a thread a few weeks ago about sneak peeks on upcoming ZT stuff and they just need to look at this thread to see why nothing gets posted here.

Like someone said, it's a no-win scenario. Not enough designs/too many designs, not hard use enough/not edc friendly, etc etc.

It's amazing they are still in business if you listen to some of the people in here who are too worried about ZT going to where the puck used to be instead of being where the puck is going.
