I hope that is the case. The price should be Material + Labor + Overhead + Profit. If that is the case then they have been selling at a lose for some time. I think it is more of supply and demand.I preordered a 0780 for $104 and just bought a 0170 for $120.
I haven’t bought any knives for a year or so but couldn’t resist these two designs. Glad I bought them when I did.
$220 is a killer deal for those two knives. I wouldn’t want to drop too much more than that for them though.
The price of raw metal has been steadily increasing so it’s no surprise that prices may be going up.
3V steel increased by almost 50% last year. Glad I have every knife in that steel that I want already.
If you are selling more than you can make raise the price to reduce demand.
Good for them that is just what I would do, if not you are leaving money on the table. With MAAP in place you just have watch that you don't price yourself out of the market you were trying to compete in. It could put re-sellers in a hard spot if they keep a hard stance on not selling for less than -20%.
Small yearly increases would be easier on everyone.
