ZT Knives, all that or all hype?

I’ve probably had a couple dozen over the years but none of them have stuck around for whatever reason. The one I miss the most is the 0560. Like most of the other folks in this thread I’m not a fan of their newer designs, but I don’t have a problem with them as a manufacturer. Seeing so many complaints about their lockup strength has sort of removed them from my radar unfortunately.

ZTs are all that and a bag of chips. Some misses (especially as of late) but the vast majority are excellent folders.

I try to restrict myself to PB washers and sadly, most ZTs are on ball bearings. That leaves me only with the 0640 (I think) which I would like, but its blade is a bit thick and I already have CRKs and a GB2 that look kinda similar and are better slicers. So getting one would mean a regrind and probably also a scale swap.

The other one I still think about is the 562Ti. I had a chance to check it out in person and I liked it.
I also wish they use steels other than 20CV.

Love my 0303 (biggish) and 0452cf (pokey); didn’t keep the 0562ti very long - it was just rather boring.

This thread inspired me to dig out my 0566. It's a nice knife. Fires well, locks up tight, tougher than most pocket knives in that weight class/size.

But holding it next to my Mini Adamas...meh. BM really nailed the pocket tank genre with that one.

I think I'll go ahead and take the 0566 to work as a nice folder to keep on hand for boxes and stuff at the office, but it really doesn't speak to me. It is a hell for stout and while some find it dated, I really like S35VN as a user steel.

I have both the BM mini Adamas (LE Shot Show Dark Red Micarta) and ZT 0566. The Adamas is in my pocket this week. The 0566 will ride next week. Both are badass blades. I will A83AFB5F-38CA-4F29-AA0D-4130ECFA4C32.jpegagree the Adamas is more refined. However I’m happy to own both of them.

I had a 560BK before bought new. The titanium handle is just great, nice ergo nice size and blade too in elmax. However over time it develope lock stick which was worse if I’d flick open the knife. The pencil graphite does work but its annoying to maintain it, whereas I do have other framelocks that do not have to be maintained that way. So it had to go, luckily ZTs do retain their value somewhat. For the price I paid I do expect it to better than the specimen that I had. It may be a lemon, but indeed an expensive lemon though.

Why didn't you just contact ZT and see if they would fix it under warranty?
