ZT Knives Cutting through Bolts and copper

I just watched the video where the guy carved a 4x4 in half with a RAT Izula and then shaved his arm with it. This was a very good test of the knives abilities.

We need more videos like this.

Then I came across this video.

I watched about 30 seconds of the last ‘test’ to see what it was all about.

Maybe we need a new forum.

Random acts of non-repeatable destruction-proving what?
Followed by a commentary on what just happened…..

You mean to tell me that some of you honestly didn’t know what would happen to those, or any, knives before the final scenes?

If you didn’t, then I feel sorry for you.
If you did, and believe that this is a legitimate test of ‘something’, then I feel even more sorry for you.

A segment of this country is seriously out of touch.
No wonder we’re in this mess.

The tests like these do have merit because there is a large group of people who have never owned or used a fixed blade in their lives. These people believe that a folding knife can do anything a fixed blade can, they don't know any better because they just don't know the difference.

I see as we all do puny, weak little folding knives getting recommended for things that they just aren't built for. We all see this mulitple times a day.

Hard Use folder etc means what?

There are some that are really over built folding knives like the above ZT 0200 and 0301. Others like Strider, Extreme Ratio, Some CS knives are really TOUGH folding knives. BUT they are not FIXED BLADES and they will break or the locks will fail.

The tests like these are a lesson in reality. :)

Then when there X brand knife is broken or etc they come back and say knives are ment to cut and slice...... Well then don't recommend knife X for anything other than that. ;)

You keep calling them tests, but they're not. There is no measuring, no set condition, nothing other then a guy beating on it with a hammer.

Who the heck wants a knife that can cut through bolts? There is a cheaper more efficient tool already designed for that task. Also the fixed blade had CPM 3V (I believe) and the ZT301 had S30V.

I know that.

Read my edited last post. :D

Oh but they are. ;)

Read some of the posts from people stating their folding knives are just miracle tools and will do anything. You don't have to look hard either, they get recommended all the time.

Well apparently they won't HUH?

What do you think would happen to a folder that wasn't over built like the ZT knives? ;)

People who think folding knives do everything are ignorant and it shows. Some baton through bolts and firewood.

What would happen to another folder? That's like saying take a Civic and a 350 and run both into a wall at 60 mph. Yeah they'll both be totaled, but one will be less totaled then the other.

I think you are starting to get my point. :D

Now remember that when you are reading the posts over in General. :D

I am not bashing any knife. ;)

I am a realist 1st off and foremost. :)

I have a ZT 0301 coming by the way. :)

You could argue that these videos, when used in conjunction with the sale of the knife, could be taken as claims that these knives will perform in this manner.
One could, but that's on a specific individuals claim, not the factories.

At the knife shows the ZT guys do claim that the knives can do this, even though it is contrary to the ZT warrantee.
It's actually just 1 guy, and he was expressing his own first hand experiences in the video. His words are not slogans for the brand in itself. We've been pretty conservative with our claims since the inception of ZT. It's never been our style to go on with over the top words.

I'll say these are difficult video's to watch for me, as are most destructive tests. Didn't watch these all the way through.

These videos are an excellent excellent source of education as well as entertainment (more so education.) Thank you so much to the OP. Great Bravo Bravo Kudos keep em comming.

That's harder that even I would push a knife really, beating on them with a 8 LB sledge hammer is over the top a little.

In the future I would like to see some real hard use tests and if they break then so be it, but that wouldn't be the sole intention.

98% of the folders out there wouldn't take near the punishment the ZT knives did.

I posted them for information and the other reasons I stated in the thread. :)

I think they fared pretty well. Must of the failures were due to miss hits with the sledge putting high lateral force on the edge. I was pretty impressed with the abuse they could take

I noticed that too. :)

Not many folding knives could take what the 0301 took, that is a tough folding knife. :D

That's what these things are all about in the 1st place, toughness.

I thought it was kinda cool to see, if he didn't miss with the hammer it would be intresting to see how the 302 would have held up.

I think they would have done a lot better.

They are excellent over built strong folding knives. :D
