Is there necessarily a better knife between the two? Both seem stout enough to handle to toughest, realistic jobs most of us would encounter. But are there qualities that one may have over the other that would give it that micro advantage?

ZT has an assited opening recurve blade and emerson has the waved commander. so its a toss up between both since thats as close as i can figure

The blade shapes are vastly different as well as, ZT's have .080 liners or framelocks, and are recurved, and are not all asst. opening. Emersons have .050 liners(the thicker ones) and chisel grind blades. Emerson also has about 5 different blade styles, and not all of them have the wave. Out of those 2, the Commander is about 125.00
cheaper, but with a much thinner lock. Wave is faster opening out of pocket than asst. opening. Dunno, get what you like.

Both are great. ZT has a more comfy handle for me.
