Dear Zero Tolerance and Rick Hinderer,
if you're listening, PLEASE make a Ti-frame 0566 on bearings (non-assisted).

You can make an all-Ti version (hollowed out scale)
You can make a Ti/CF version
You can make a Ti/G10 version
You can make an all-DLC version
You can make a White CF version
You can make a 20CV version
You can make an M390 version
You can make an S35VN version
You can even make a Glow CF version
Make 'em all on KVT bearings in the ~4.4oz-4.6oz

^^^ I will buy at least one of each. And some for backups.

PLEASE!!!!

And Rick, please make a Tri-way XM-18 3.25". I'll buy a bunch of those.

There. All will be well and you'll make gobs and gobs of cash! Just watch.

3.25" is a pretty sweet spot. People have been asking for this exact knife for years... probably not going to happen unfortunately.

I generally prefer a long blade in the 3.75" range, but the 0566 gets a ton of carry. I think I like the 3.25 over a 3.5 simply because 3.25" is small enough to not look weapony, and if I am going to carry a 3.5" blade, I might as well bump it up to 3.75" for a bit more performance.

I would love to see the 0566 in Ti. I don't mind the steel frame, but it's such a handy size and design that it would really benefit from dropping a couple ounces.

I like the 0566s the way they are....enough that I own 2 of them lol I think if it was TI and on bearings it would be a $220 knife instead of a $160 knife, in which case I’d rather a 0562 or 452...
Edit: still wishing I bought one of the KSF M390 version tho

They’re not listening. We’ve been asking for years. They’re making things glow, instead.

Agreed... while it’s impossible to please everyone I wish they would go back to being just really well-built no nonsense knives. Like the new 0452gl for example....I love the blacked-out look, and S35VN is a great steel, but the glow in the dark scale seems really tacky, like a gas-station knife. I might still buy one but I wish it was just blacked out, without the GITD

As much as I like DLC and CF, I kinda wish it had the same fully contoured G10 scale as the 0452G10.

A link to this thread has been emailed to the folks that matter at both Hinderer and ZT. I would say as far as the XM-18 3.25" to take a look at the MP-1 or Jurassic when they come out in Gen 2 format. The Jurassic has been one of my favorite Hinderer knives made besides the Full Track and Half Track. All for different reasons. The Jurassics only problems on the gen 1 model was they were not the best flippers and they did the reptile scale to start. When these come out in the Gen 2 with tri way pivot and stronger detents, they are going to be unbeatable. It fits that 3.25" spot you want and when you first really have to do a hard cut with it, you will fall in love with the drop edge design. Now we just gotta get Rick to do it in the Tri Way Pivot!

^^ Thanks a ton Whitty! We can always hope!
I’ve never handled the Jurassic and have really just overlooked it due to the lack of tri-way, ever since I got my first tri-way.
Here’s hoping it gets some treatment soon. I’m not sure about the “hump” on it’s back.. :)
Is it pretty comfortable? The 0566 just snugs into my mitts like no other.

I own several Jurassics. Outside of the complaints I stated above, they are incredible. The Hump fits the hand like a freaking glove. When really going to task using a knife, there has been nothing better in my opinion. Shoot me an email. I feel sure I have one in my collection I can send you to test out for a while. scott@usamadeblade.com

The more I keep thinking about this, the more I realize I need to really push Hinderer to make the Jurassic Gen 2 with Tri Way pivot happen!

personally, whynot just use good phosphor bronze washers like this guy did? It seems to be a more solid lockup with less maint.

Been there done that on the de-assisted thing. No thanks. Tried on multiple 0566s and the knife’s detent/lockbar/blade just wasn’t designed for non-assist.
Feels like a garbage POS knife after a de-assist job IMO. I tried a lot of different things to get the operation better and was never satisfied.

Yeah I have discovered 3.25 tends to be the ideal size for me. I want a 3.25 inch Sebenza too!

That’s an amazing offer Whitty - I may take you up on it. Thanks.
I’d know pretty much immediately after handling one.
Don’t get me wrong - the XM-18 3.5, 3.0 and even my 24 also fit perfectly in their own way as well.
It’s just something about the 0566’s handle dimensions, blade length/shape etc. that have that magic somethin’.
0566G10/CF carries super well too, although a .5oz-.75oz lighter would be freakin’ amazing.
I don’t know, ZT & Hinderer just really figured out the magic sauce in the 0566.
Even if bearings and a Ti frame add $60 to the street price, I’m perfectly ok with that. And who says they would have to change the availability of the 0566 in any way? Make a 0567 Ti lineup alongside it. You don’t want to mess with your affordable, steel, AO, bread/butter line.

You have any inside line on when we might be getting a Gen 2/Triway run of MP-1s? That calls to me pretty hard. :D

If we're going to rant at ZT, let's not have it be for yet another frigging Hinderer variation. Let's rant for something useful, like a ZT version of the Concierge (IMO, if they made this it would be a million times better than the 450 series).

This is the issue to me. ZT was originally a company that produces premium no-nonsense, practical hard use knives. A knife like the Kershaw Concierge would be a complete fail to me and an oxymoron to the original purpose of ZT. ZT now uses hardware that is less practical(one of the reasons I prefer 0560>0562). I think producing a knife like the OP suggested, if it used the same hardware the original 0566 used, it would be the best knife ZT had made in years. Their are so many companies in the current market that target the collector/edc market. ZT has become just another company in an ever increasingly crowded market, instead of sticking to their niche market.

1. There can never be too many Hinderer variations. :D
2. You should try the 0470 if you like the Concierge so much. It's only slightly larger, but much lighter and built like a brick with good steel. Great knife - one of Sinkevich's best.
