Thinking about a ZT0200 for my next blade. Hows the closed retention for all you owners out there. Thanks Tom!

Pretty decent on mine, I can swing it and get it out if i try hard enough. Its harder to get out then a axis lock knife if that helps anyway.

I have never had an issue with mine, it is a flipper so I guess if you swing the hell out of it you could get it out.

Thanks that pretty good retention if its harder than a axis my 710 has great retention.. Its hard to get my hands on a 0200 to really see how good it is. Good blade retention is a must for me! Thanks

You wont be disappointed! I can't flick mine out with just a wrist flick, unlike my emerson. You need to get it rolling with the flipper or thumb stud.
I just got one the other day and I can't stop flipping it and using it. I got a partially serrated one though, which at first I thought would be a problem but I grew to like it for cutting thick nylon rope.

It also felt better in hand than a 300 for me personally, as I passed up a 303 for the 200 ;)

i am able to flick it open, with a lot of pushing, without using my wrist. i have personally looked at the ball detent, and it is freakishly large. the only way to open it fast is with a nice big swing of the wrist.

Funny everyone is saying that theirs is fine. Mine is not. If the knife is open, and I close it quickly, it will bounce back and open itself by a fraction of an inch or so. The only way for me to close it quickly and keep it closed is to hold down a little tighter & longer while closing, so that when it does bounce out of the closed position, my hand is still squeezing it, so it closes the knife again. It's not an enormous deal to me, but it is irritating. If you want a video of what I'm talking about, PM me and I'll email you one.

I've got to pick one of these up soon... I tried one in the store and it felt great.

I'm not sure what you mean by closing it quickly, it's a liner lock, you can't close it until your finger is withdrawn from under the blade, at that point you just close it with your finger. I must be missing something.:jerkit:

The blade retention on mine is not what all of you are describing, and certainly not better than any of my benchmades. I can easily flick it out using only my wrist, no thumb stud or flipper. I can also flip it out using only my wrist in reverse grip as well. I cant do this easily with any of my other knives. Dont get me wrong its a great knife but the blade retention is certainly lacking, I think in part to how heavy the blade is.

I've had a couple militaries that were like that. Flick your wrist and it would open. I've also got four that are perfect. I guess im going to have to buy one and report back. Thanks to all.

The retention in liner/frame locks is highly variable. I can handle 3 knives of the same model and get three different amounts of resistance to open.

The retention is not perfect, but quite strong for the blade of this size - if we are talking about opening it by a wrist swing without using the flipper. Most of my BM with axis lock have got a better retention than my ZT200 (again, talking about centrifugal force opening). But it is still a good one from my point of view. After all, the blade is quite heavy. My Emerson Supercommander has much-much weaker retention - being of about the same weight/size.
