ZT0300 Factory Blemish question

I just bought a used ZT0300 off another forum. I just received it and it has 4 X stamped on blade. I have bought Kershaw factory blemishes off this sight and they all had the Xs on the blade. I specifically asked if it was a factory blemish and seller stated it was not.

I have included a pic but wondered if those more knowledgeable than me could tell me if it is a factory blemish.

Thanks
Dave

yup the "XXXX" on the blade signifies it is a blem

edit: Thomas beat me to it! Straight from the man himself!

I was 99.9% positive. I don't have a problem with a factory blemish, but I paid for a regular one. I specifically asked him if it was a factory blemish and he stated that it wasn't.
The guy was really nice and stated he bought it used, so I guess it is possible he didn't know.

if you paid "full price" you deserve a non-blemished knife with it's full factory warranty...

I agree completely and plan to ask for my money back in exchange for a mailing the knife back.

Thanks to everyone for the confirmation on whether it was a blemish. This forum is GREAT.

Good luck on getting your refund and return. Hope it all works out without any hitches.

FWIW: Kershawguy sells both new and blem ZT0300s over on the exchange sub-forum. The blems are about $90 less than the new in box versions.

Hey davec611 I had the same problem. Only kinda umm opposite. I ordered 4 Kershaw blems from some Kershaw Guy on this forum. I paid Blem prices. What I received was hardly a Blem.

1 was NIB non-Blem. He ran out of blems for that model so he sells me a brand new knife at blem prices. (Rip Off Man.) :D

2 of the knives, the blem was so insignificant and miniscule as to be laughable. I would not have been happy had I paid full price but at what I paid I received more knife then paid for.
(Outrageous!!) ;)

1 knife?????? I have no idea why this was a blem. I could not find it. I paid blem prices and I want blems. (Who does he think he is?):D

Seriously though, good luck with your endeavors.

with most of the blems i've bought, it's because of a uneven grind...a non-issue if you're a knife user...i'll take the discount of a blem most everytime...

Report him on GBU. Scammer. (JK)

What exactly is the blemish?

Usually with the ZT's it's a speck on the blade where the coating did not fully cover. Near the top swedge in the OP's photo, you can see thus. Sometimes though, it's impossible to find the blemish.

I agree and have several blems from KershawGuy. it looks fine and I wouldn't have noticed if it wasn't for the 4 Xs stamped on the blade. It is a great knife blemished or not. It would fill any need I would ever have and is built like a tank.

The issue is I specifically asked twice if it was a factory Blemish and was told no. If I had wanted a factory blemish, i would have snatched one up from KershawGuy and saved $20.

Several officers I work with carry the 300. I was looking for the 350 when I found it. It was a good deal and I bought it with the knowledge that due to the size it probably wouldn't work for me and I would resell it for about what I had in it.

In case I am unable to rectify the situation, I plan to sell or trade the knife.

Does anyone have an idea what a zt0300 factory blemish is worth? I doubt it has been used or carried since it was bought. I know roughly what they are sold for on here, but wondered in a private sale what to expect.

As PG mentioned earlier, the 030x series usually sells for around $ 90 less than a new one.

I'd push the issue with the guy bought from. You paid for a non-blem with a full warranty, and he should make it right.

Thanks for the info.

The seller refuses to contact me. It has been a week and seller has ignored all PM's and emails. They have not logged on to cpfmarket since last Friday morning. Hard to push issue when I can't make contact.

I haven't been on those forums much, but if they have an area somewhat akin to our GB&U, I'd highly suggest you use it! You may save someone else the heartache of having to deal with a dishonest individual who refuses to make things right when they're called on the carpet.

Yes, I have been trying to give seller benefit of the doubt and the chance to make things right but they refuse to respond to emails. I will address my grievance tomorrow on the other forum.

I believe seller is a member of these forums, but not 100%. A member here has the same name and spent a significant amount of their time discussing Zero Tolerance knives. They even contacted KershawGuy about buying a ZT.

davec.....i woulkd try and contact a few of the regular kershaw posters around here and see if they recognize the name and if they post here or not....i'm sure everyone here would like to stay away from him IF it turns out bad and he doesan't respond.....ryan

If the guy is on various knife forums and sells knives, he knew what the XXXX meant.

If he had been just someone off of eBay, for instance, and a non-knife knut, then yeah, give him the benefit of the doubt. But a seller selling knives on knife forums knows.
