ZT0392 Out of Stock

Seen scalpers selling them for 550+.

I question why when you can get a new Hinderer for exactly that much from one of our bladeforums vendors. Maybe the m390 is worth the extra money over the s35vn that Hinderer uses.

You could make a convincing case the 0392 should command more $$$ than the Hinderer.... CTS-204p non-tanto blade, full Ti handles, bearings instead of washers, etc.. Plus most people are going to prefer the ZT detent strength.

The prices are interesting, who knows how many flippers are still sitting on these things now that the market has been constantly "flooded" with them since they started getting delivered not wanting to get caught up in the current "price war". It's pretty clear by now a significant number of people that bought these did so only to flip them. Could be I just didn't pay attention but I can't remember another ZT LE where there were nearly 10+ for sale at any one time across ebay/forums and new ones just kept showing up as others sold for days. I'd imagine that once these dry up prices may creep back up but probably not anywhere near what some of the early ones sold for, depending on what else comes down the pipe from ZT. We might even see some creep below $500, I'd bet once they are gone prices head back toward $600-650.

Think about it. The ZT 0777 was so popular that they ended up making four iterations of it, and four regular production models in the 0770. I believe the 0888 had three iterations. The 0454 was popular enough to spawn two regular production versions. The 0801 spawned multiple versions. I would say it is very likely that we will see either the 0392 in some variation of color and steel, or a production version. Quite likely both if the success of the other Hinderer models is taken into considerations (0560/1/2 0550/1 0566

Just to be clear, neither of the bolded parts had anything to do with popularity.

I'd say you haven't been paying attention..their are 10 0454's up for sale on EvilBay as of right now..

If that is true about the 0392, the people that paid close to double sure are going to feel really stupid. Oh I do love it. ;)

That's true.

Though I remember there were even people way back paying double for a chance to grab a 0560 early.

I'm not too familiar with Hinderers, but they've done some production runs in 20CV and XHP. I'm holding out for one of those.

I saw that prices recently dropped a little too. They were originally at the $800 range, special price for those with impulse control issues I guess. It's only money right? They can and will always print more. :D

M390 (Bohler), CTS-204P (Carpenter), and 20CV (Latrobe) are all essentially the same steel, just by different manufacturers. And CTS-XHP is intended to be a more corrosion-resistant D2. There are reasons for holding out for a Hinderer, but I don't think the blade steel itself would be one of the significant differentiators.

XHP being a powder steel, I find it to have significantly better edge retention than D2. CPM-D2 may be a closer comparison, but I'm not at all familiar with that steel.
