Hello bladeforums, I saw this video on YouTube by solos knife reviews (or Johnson knives on Instagram)http://youtu.be/XTKXM33g518 and I think the choil looks awesome. Has anyone else done this with one? I know I'm voiding the warranty, but with a ZT I doubt I'll ever need it. I'd love to hear advice on citing said choil or experience in this area

I can't comment on 'the looks' of a choil....never thought of it that way.....

As far as being a useful addition to the ergonomics of a knife, I would say almost necessary with longer blades (3.5 or more)

I am not sure that I could really get the most out of a knife without a choil at that blade length.
Your hands are so far from the end of the blade that you lose a lot of control for any cutting that requires just a little precision.

Right now I am using an RHK 3.5 XM-18, and would hate it without the choil...likewise for my last knife, an SMF.

On a ZT 0560, or anything of that size, I would want a choil....

This is just my personal preferance.

I used to have one with a choil and liked it. The previous owner added the choil and dropped the spine. It was fairly ergonomic and light for its size. Sweet knife but my tastes changed.
