Hello gentlemen/Ladies.

I need some help with ZT0562CF. I am long time Spyderco user and not familiar with other brands. Recently ZT0562CF attracted my attention and I have some questions. I was looking for ZT forums, but was able to find Kershaw forum @ AAPK. If you know about any other Kershaw/ZT forums, please share your knowledge. Thank you in advance.
So my questions:

1. 0562 is advertised as a knife with slicer grind. How good does it sliced to compare with other slicers. 4 mm stock is some concern for me.
2. I would like to buy used to save some money and plenty available on BF and e-bay. I also aware of fakes with both M390 and 204P. How to distinguish real thing from fake?

Thank you in advance

It's a slicer for a ZT knife. It does not hold a candle to a slicey Spyderco. Doesn't mean it won't cut though. I would just buy used on the exchange here, or buy new from a BF sponsored dealer

I really liked mine. Probably my favorite ZT :D

Knifebro,
Thank you for respond. Some of Spydies are more slicers than others. Of cause FFG Memory with 2 mm stock blade will slice better. Can you tell me more about the knife? What about ergos? How it compares with Spydies, which you have?I doubt that I will buy new from a dealer. $240 is much more than I am willing to pay for something I will put to use. Most likely I will chase down lightly used.
Thank you

Ergos are excellent, probably the best ZT Ive handled. Action is very smooth and snaps out with authority. Unlike a genuine XM, its strictly a flipper as the "thumb studs" are smooth and VERY difficult to manipulate. They're really just meant as blade stops. To avoid a fake, Id just keep an eye out on the exchange.

I like the 562, it seems to me like a more refined 560, a bit smaller, a little better in hand feel, and with the grind it is definitely a better slicer than the 560, 551 etc.

It feels better in hand than my Spyderco knives.

If cost is an issue, the standard 562 is a great knife and the difference in blade steel won't be an issue for most people, and you can get some beautiful aftermarket scales to customize your knife to you.

Kershawguy.com has the CF version in stock, but as you noticed it is at $240 shipped.

I never regretted buying my 562CF, and I rotate it into carry often. It carries well in all kinds of pants/shorts, including dress pants.

best

S35Vn is a good steel, but I want 204P variant. Plus $40 difference in price well worth upgrades. For last 3 years for most of my tasks I am using S110V blade, so I got spoiled. I sharpen it every week. On my work every week I have to open couple dozen of boxes, which closed using fiberglass reinforced tape, so I need some extra wear resistance.
I am planning to use the knife, so IMHO buying used is a good idea.

I have both the g10 and the cf version of 562. Both are beautiful knives with great ergo and fit and finish. That being said, if being slicer is your top priority, I would choose sth different, a different zt (0770cf?) or stick to spyderco, like a ti millie.

Yes - a nice used one would save you some money, they go fast in the exchange!

You might also consider the ZT0770CFM4 from KnivesShipFree - I have one of those and it has great steel, and is quite a slicer.

Good luck!

Standard uses Elmax.

FYI- S110V is more wear resistant than M390

Sorry, you are correct. Still think that Elmax in the same class with S35Vn and 204P has better wear resistance.

The ZT 0562 is an awesome knife, but the blade is not much of a slicer. I had Josh regrind mine to solve that issue. The new regrind slices like crazy, and retains a high degree of toughness.

Here's the thread that shows the differences between the stock and reground blade:

thank you. Good info

I am well aware, still I never used M390 and would like to experience. I would pick Spyderco, but none of Spydies with 204 are attracting me. Millie is just too big for my taste. I prefer 3-3.5" blades. No AO.

The 0562 is my favorite ZT (also have 0561 0770CF 0452CF).
The ergos are excellent, nearest Spyderco grip shape to compare could be the Manix XL.

The 0562 is a lot easier on the hands than the 0560/0561, sans the very aggressive jimping on those that seems to be designed with heavy gloves in mind.

The 0562 isn't a slicer like a Millie or Para2 or what have you. But it cuts really well for me, I like the blade grinds aesthetics, and its performance is great within the context of its intended use, ie cutting things. Mine's Elmax, and I'm real happy with its balance of ease of sharpening and great edge holding. I don't think you can pick a wrong steel from those available.

The whole package combined is why I like the 0562 so much, it's heft, size, shape, build quality, action, are just right to me. A beasty, tough and useful folder. Also it has the best factory pocket clip I've ever used.

Couldn't agree more CP!! I have the 562CF with CTS 204 and it I one of my favorites!
Fits my hand perfectly, flips like a dream and locks up tight.
Love this one!

The 0562 is probably the best ZT "user" IMHO. It does have ergos to rival the Manix, and the blade is ground to be a much better slicer than most ZTs.

The 0770cf is a great size/weight, and would be awesome if it was KVT, but mine flips like crap de-assisted on those undersized washers.

I really love some ZTs and own quite a few, but the 0562cf is the most practical and user orientated to me.

PS. Ask a couple dealers kindly for their best price and you might be surprised.

Thank you for your thoughts.
I asked one dealer, who is well known among Kershaw fan and he really surprised with answer that ZT doesn't allow dealers to sell below $240 . But somebody else sold for under. I shpuld receive it this week.
Thank you everybody.

This is an update for all who helped me.
I got the knife a week ago. My first impression was: it is beautiful, but heavy and not as comfortable in my hand as my Spydies. Even 0561 felt much better in my hand. I wasn't sure what to do with the knife and was really surprise, when find out that 0562 and my C83 Persian weight the same.
It was sitting on my desk. I played with it and it started to grow on me. I love it now. This Saturday it will go to my pocket. Will be one of my weekend knives.
Thank you for help. I almost bought 0566 yesterday........

Glad to hear you like it. The ZT 0801 has been on sale lately and is another ZT must have IMO if you like the looks of it. For $140 it is a heck of a deal.
