ZT0566, how long did it take for yours to become easier to open?

I recently purchased a ZT0566CF and I like the knife but it's been really difficult to open. I did the de-assist modification but I much prefer the assisted method with this knife. I cleaned and oiled it and have been flipping it over and over for a few days and it seems to be getting better but I was just wondering how long it took for yours to flip out easily.

Also, I have my eye on a ZT0562 (0560 is just too large for my needs) as my next investment and was wonder who has them both and what you think of them?

I just picked up a 562 and it seemed way stiffer than the 560 I have. The 560 is like butter and the blade will fall on its own but the 562 is considerably stiffer, was kinda wondering the same thing

Just loosen up a lit the pivot screw and add some dry oil, that has worked for me, it opens fast and easy, and you need a little more force to close it, I love my 566 BW

My 0566CF (deassisted of course) is buttery smooth. Flips like a champ and falls closed when released. My main gripe is a lot of lockbar tension. It doesn't stick but it's definitely tougher to release than my other frame locks. Great knife though. Excellent size and ergos.

Had an 0562 but ended up getting rid of it BC I wanted a genuine Hinderer. Very nice blade. About as close to an XM as you'll get. Mine was the second best flipper I've owned behind an 0801S110V. Silky smooth it was.

Edit: Cant tell you exactly how long it took to break in as my bro was the original owner and deassisted it, but I would keep flipping it and loosen the pivot slightly.

My 566 was purchased for my young son. It was pretty stiff when new. But with a couple marathon ocd flip sessions, it's now pretty nice. Still with Speedsafe.

My 561 had almost zero detent when new, and only got worse. I ended up tweaking it a bit, now the detent is a bit strong, but I think it's perfect for that particular knife. It allows more pressure build up to throw that big blade. And I still have a few flashbacks from the times it would open in pocket if not tucked against pocket edge. Fortunately I didn't stab my boys, but did get a few hand cuts, and shredded a bunch of pockets.

My 562CF came with an absolutely perfect detent. I prefer them just a tad tighter, because they all seem to loosen up over time. This one did not really need much. And even after a few ocd flip sessions (many hundreds of flips), it's still perfect.

The 801 was mentioned above, and it was perfect also. It was my go-to fave until the 562CF arrived. Pretty much all my 2015 releases are perfect in detent, opening, and lockup. I would guess that all the new 2016's will be the same way.

My 0566 remains a work in progress as far as opening is concerned. It was so stiff upon purchasing, and so stubbornly remaining so, that it went back in the box for a few months after initial oiling and extensive flipping had no discernible effect. Buyer's remorse set in quickly. However, after reading a tip on smoother opening - using the flipper combined with light thumb pressure on the stud - I was satisfied enough to put it into my EDC rotation. Over time, it has since loosened *almost* to where I'd like it, so I figure it will get there eventually.
