ZT0620 Detent Problem

I just bought a blue frag scale zt0620 and I love the thing except I noticed when I started carrying it that it would be impossible to open one hand. My friend also tried and to no avail. I discovered that it's because the detent ball apparently lodges itself into the blade whenever there is even slight pressure on the Lockbar. I don't want to contact ZT about this as I don't want to wait weeks, is there a simpler fix?

Adjust your grip. Most frame locks will be difficult to open with pressure on the lockbar. My 0630 is the same way. Smooth as glass with the right technique, but difficult to open if my finger is on the lockbar. Not a flaw, just a design characteristic. Hope this helps.

I do, it's hard to open even when I use to hands like a traditional, the problem isn't that, it's that the detent literally sticks into the blade and even if you hold the knife without touching the Lockbar the blade is already stuck

Gotcha. Give it time also. There is often a break in period with ZTs. It'll get better.

Ive heard of that happening alot with 620s. Mine was a little stiff when i first got it. I just opened and closed mine non stop for about 10 minutes and it broke it in nicely. I can open it with fingers on lockbar. I also know someone who finely filed and sanded a ramp for the detent to leave a little easier.

i have bought the 0620 and the 0630 and they both had the same problem. technique has nothing to do with it. luckily though, they do seem to be getting better with more use.

Glad to hear it gets better, thanks for your inputs guys, I'll contact ZT if it doesn't get better

My 0630 was the same way out of the box.
It's a combination of giving it some time, deploying it a lot, and adjusting your grip a bit.

It's a new knife, practice makes perfect. Just keep playing with it.

These guys are probably right, but, the way you write it also sounds like it could be a defect if it's that bad.

Cycle it 1000 times...while you're watching TV, during the board meeting, whatever. If it hasn't gotten better by then you'll need to send it back for repair.

There is a specific angle that makes opening it very easy. Play around with it and see if you can find it. That being said, I like to press on the thumb disc and flick it slightly. Opens every time.

powdered graphite, use it on all my zt's and kershaws.most hardware stores have it where they make keys its a lock lube too.
