ZT0770CF IN M4? Why didn't anyone tell me?

Had you have been watching the fans of ZT thread recently, you would have seen my slightly modded 770cfM4.

I pulled the blade out and let it soak in Hydrogen Peroxide for 1 1/2 - 2 hours, then hit it with 600 grit wet/dry under running water so I could see how far I was going. I polished up the highs and used the DLC as an impromptu black wash.

Then used the 600 to touch up the edge then off to my strop and this is what I had when I stopped:

(Pardon the SAK and the Becker 11.5 friction folder)

Yes Bill, I saw that and have a healthy dose of envy going right now. The good kind of course ;) I do not like coating and your method is better than keeping it stock imo. Thanks for sharing and your willingness to explain just how you did it. Looks great.

Thanks Trav lol This is a nice surprise to find out about today.

I paid $130 for mine in M390...
I'm sure it's a fine knife, but...

Yes I havent purchased a ZT post MAP yet for one reason or another. It's also an exclusive which really cuts off any chances for an extra discount. But Im glad they ordered this and I'll be picking one up.

I totally see your point but like you said, it's a fine knife. I'm real good at what I pay for my knives over the years ...this may be a BM940-1 type splurge for myself ;)

Thanks, being into Beckers inadvertently made me willing to just take a knife and see what I can make out of it, look at my BK11.5, lol...

And to be honest, I grabbed my 770 off of the exchange for the cost of the m390. It was LNIB and it was as described. I am just saying that for you to keep your eyes peeled.

I thought it was a much lower quantity - but these didn't fly out the door like many expected. I checked the day it was announced and there were 22X remaining. I delayed purchasing for a while, keeping an eye on the stock count; but I remember being surprised they weren't sold out when I noticed them on a recent visit to the site.
I'd have preferred it without the DLC; but I wasn't going to make that a deal breaker.

I saw 30 left in stock at 12:15...

I read that old thread and it looks like it was a run of 500 pieces not 1,000.

It says 66 in stock right now. If you saw 30 earlier today I wonder if they just add to stock but keeping the numbers low.

KnifeWorks still has some of their dealer-exclusive ZT 0350M390 from two years ago in stock and that was a run of 500 pieces.

That surprises me, too. I understand that the 0350 wasn't a hugely popular model; but m390 at that price seemed like a no brainer. Their subsequent version, with cf scales, seems to have done better despite the price increase.
That reminds me - never did buy the 0770cf in m390 from the other place...

not a fan of coatings but I would make an exception for M4...... but assisted is a no go for me :(

The ZT 0350 series is probably the best-selling model by quantity in the ZT line with about 20 variations produced. Initially, the KW 0350M390 was $188 which is what I paid about two years ago. Of course, since it's a slow seller KW dropped the price to the current $155. That 0350CFM390 with satin blade and stonewashed flats plus very nice CF is a favorite of mine as are the 0350 with composite blades and ZDP-189 blades.

I knew there were numerous variations; but I'm somewhat surpassed to learn that it was a top seller. Thanks for the info... though it makes the available stock of that G10/M390 run just that much more surprising to me. (I don't remember if it was $189 or $159 when I bought mine.)

I am not completely sure how many we had in the beginning, but we have had several replenishing runs from ZT. It has been a good seller. Not as great as I had hoped.

Personally, I love the knife. The edge holding is spectacular. I use mine regularly. :)

Derrick, as you might have read above, I grabbed mine second hand. I was planning on purchasing one, but the price was too good for me to pass up.

I absolutely love this knife.
The CF is a bit smoother than I would prefer, but I am likely to make some new pants for it with micarta from shadetree. In its stock form, it can play a user with a great steel or dress up a bit with its CF scales.

I am on the user side of the fence and I am going to further make this "My" knife. Considering I carry it as much if not more than my Large 21 sebenza, I might as well make it suit my needs a little more.

Again, this knife is one of my Favorite carry knives and Always performs. Thanks for making this a possibility.

I'm piling on here, but the 0770CF is one of my favorite knives. It's the biggest "little" knife I own. ZT managed to pack a whole lot of blade in a very lightweight package. And M4 is just the icing on the cake.

If I had to take a guess, I'd say what's holding back sales of the 0770CF is AO. If that knife had been offered in KVT, I doubt you'd be able to keep it in stock. As it is, the AO doesn't bother me at all. I'm just glad ZT finally decided to make a knife that suits me. :)

Agreed on the AO. If I had a choice between AO vs manual it would be the manual in a heart beat. But I will take an AO in this steel, hardness and scale set if it is the only way it is offered.

I would also be willing to work with a more positive detent so I could deassist. Mine is a bit on the relaxed side.
