Light user Zero Tolerance ZT 0804 in 204P; both blade and titanium handle were tumbled nicely - does a great job hiding wear so you can actually use this one. Titanium clip tension was carefully tuned- was WAY too tight at first - now will hold in a wide variety of material thicknesses. Great snappy action, no lock stick, nicely sharpened on an EdgePro and good centering.

Spyderco SpydieChef light user - I purchased this in 2017 off this forum, so I believe this is the non-CQI version. I tuned the lock bar for a more positive engagement, detent is stronger than some of the weak ones I’ve felt on this model. Good centering, sharpened on an EdgePro.

Spyderco Ikuchi non-CQI, but I’ve dialed out the common issues with version 1 and now it’s really dialed. I filed down the jumping on the flipper wheel so that it doesn’t shred your finger, dialed back the extremely high tension on the lock bar and massaged the liner with some emory paper so that you cannot catch your finger on the blade when folded. Very, very light use. I also swapped the long clip for a Spyderco short clip. Centering is 55/45, Great action.

Spyderco Smock / S30V on brown micarta from Sharp Dressed Knives ($70 new, out of stock now). Great example, nice snappy action and good centering. I did NOT lose the second detent ball as many did when disassembling- it is still installed. Includes the stock scales.

Can i ask, how did you tumble the coating on the 0804? Looks much better since you can see the grind lines and will also hide scratches and stuff.

Chris*33 Chris*33 I used fairly course ceramic media- got lucky- some of my tumbling projects experimenting with DLC from different companies on different steel didn’t turn out as nicely.

Alright..so it could be done just by lightly sanding it with a coarse sandpaper, i guess. Now i have to find a cheap coated blade to give it a go.

Thank you for the reply, i appreciate it.

Chris*33 Chris*33 Its easy to do- I bought a 5lb container of medium ceramic abrasive polishing timber media off Harbor Freight, dropped some into a sturdy plastic peanut container that I had on hand and shook it up until it hit the consistency I wanted. You will have to spend some time sharpening it afterwards- I took the opportunity to reprofile but it was came out great.

Now i get what you mean by abrasive media...i didn't know you can buy something like this, haven't seen anything similar in Europe where i live.
It's definitely interesting for me because i really like blades with coating but everytime i purchased a knife with a DLC coating i ended up not using it out of fear for the coating.
I'll see if i can find some of this abrasive now that i know what to look for.
