ZT301 titanium question?

The liner under what G10 on what knife the factory one or are you talking about the newly pimped one? Not following you. I ask because I took a magnet to one of my factory ZT's and the magnet stuck on the non lock side.

I just checked the red one here and the liner is definitely magnetic (unlike the Ti side).

When I had mine apart, I tested the liner. A magnet wouldn't stick to it so I assumed it was Ti. Mine was one of the first ones released, so maybe Kershaw has gone to SS liners.

I've owned three 301s total and two 302s since they came out and all of them had stainless steel liners on the non locking side under the G10. For what its worth, two of these were a 301 and a 302 that as luck would have it, were sent to me by Thomas to test before they were even available to the public or right at about when they were just getting out there to the military but this was back when I was field testing for Kershaw and those were magnetic on the non lock side also. I know those were among the earliest models out because they had to be based on the fact that stores didn't even have them for sale at the time.

Could just be a different grade of SS. Depending on what it's made of, stainless steel is either magnetic or non-magnetic.

Oh I'd say thats a given. I think everyone knows there are ferrous and no ferrous metals. My point is that I believe most of them (the ZT's) are magnetic since thats been the case for most I've seen and tried the test on. It may well be that some of the first ones were out with a 300 series stainless thats not heat treated. I have an Emerson Horseman here and we know that its a stainless liner yet its non magnetic so it is one of the possibilities with the ZT based on that. I was not trying to come off as if I was doubting the accuracy of my friends statements. Sorry if that was how it came across.
