Zt450 vs benchmade osborne 940-1 for edc

I had a 940-1, sold it. Just got a 940 and 0452. The new 0450CF is next on my list.

Both make for excellent EDC knives, and both are among my favorites of each brand's offerings. They are very similar in size. They're both very slim and very unobtrusive in pocket. The blade on the 940 is just a tiny bit longer than the 0450 (by 0.15", according to the specs). For me, they both fit well into my EDC when I'm looking for a slim, unobtrusive knife. You can even fit either with a deep carry clip (0450 can use a clip from a 0560, and the 940 can use the clip from a Contego).

maybe I'm the minorty but I had a 940-1 and while the blade was great... that handle. god, benchmade did a terrible job on the carbon fiber. I love cf, but the benchmades cf just doesn't look right imo. feels very cheap aswell, but the barrel spacers look sweet

I have them both and prefer the BM 940 but both are great knives. The 940 is super smooth and great to carry. You can't go wrong with either one.

Has anyone ever actually broken the 940? Everyone keeps saying it's built softer. So that must mean people break it a lot. I know for a fact that's false because my uncle has one and uses it for construction in place of a razor blade utility knife even for cutting drywall and occasionally prying nails out of 2x4s so even if it is built "softer" unless you're testing which one is stronger you likely won't break it

I dont own the 940-1, I have owned two 940s that I sold and I miss it now and have one on order a 940-1 from my local BM store. For EDC its hard to beat an axis lock for ease of opening and closing.

I do love my 0450 and think its a bit more sturdy of a knife than the 940. I find the eurgos great and I have large size hands. Its very light and the flipper is fun to play with. Closing the knife pales in comparison to an axis lock. But, it has great blade steel and is $100 less than the 940-1. If cost was an issue I would be very happy with a 0450 and if you like a black finish or want to save a tiny bit of weight go with the CF version for $20 more.

The 940's feels less strong overall and I was afraid to use it for harder cutting tasks. I have also had two axis locks break on me, which benchmade fixed free of charge but its still something to keep in mind.

I wouldnt say the 0450 was my favorite EDC as there are better options and knives I carry more. But its great and I dont plan on selling it. I would take my Bm 904 over it or my waved enduras or Salt dragonflys any day.

I think the CF is fantastic on that model. Bought one for my son and it's the first thing to kick his 710 D2 outta' the rfp in a long time.

Had both and sold both for different reasons, the 0450 was really nice and smooth and I loved the look, but it was just a tad too small to handle comfortably one handed. I also liked the axis lock better than the frame lock, but that is a general preference.
Generally I found the 940 great to carry.
Both blades were to thick too my liking. Okay for general use, but I prefer my blades slicey.
