How's it going folks?

Today I have an incredible custom forged entirely by hand from Iron Sand! That is right, Sand...

The alloy used in this knife was made in the same way that they made steel in Fuedal Japan for Samurai Swords! Sand was taken from a particular part of a particular river that yields a high iron content, and it was smelted down to a bloom. From there it goes through a rigorous process of forging to clean out impurities. Each od the hammer blows, cuts, stacking, etc is done by hand. By the time this is all finished up, it is sitting around 1-1.5 million layers from a smith that has done it this way for decades.

What this means to you is that you get a very fine grained alloy that takes a laser sharp edge, and only needs stropping to care for.

I have used this to cut food twice while out for dinner and prep dinner once. It has seen a DMT Extra Extra Fine stone for three passes on each side and a strop twice.

Pics do not show the true beauty and character in this blade. There are faint lines that look like fingerprints in the banding of the alloy, a fantastic Hamon is present, and as is the start of a bright and colorful Patina.

In the bottom pic you can faintly see some of the smaller details that I mentioned above. This pic was taken prior to any use.

Asking only $SOLD!
PayPal G&S. Sent insured, with tracking included.

These retail for $180-$190 new, and these are currently sold out. I do not know when more will be made.

I reserve the right to deal with the person of my choosing, though I normally go by timestamp.

Have you researched Zubeng Forge?

I have found the original sales listing, and traced this exact knife back to the Creators site. Please do not try to disparage the character of the Knifemaker and the making of this knife. Yes, The Knifemaker is from China, but he has learned his trade in Japan, and still makes his knives and swords as he was trained. This is the same fashion that has been used for centuries. Not to mention that I never said where this knife was made.

If you have seen this type of knife on other sites, then congratulations on being "well read, for the Internet", but I have the original listing immediately available. I am fetching the link now.

Sorry to being a smartass.
:)
For further research, here is the original sales listing:
http://forthenrycustomknives.com/product/zubeng-forge-tamahagane-pocket-fixed-blade-10/

Also, for what it is worth, I have earned my 100% positive rating. I do not know what has happened with your deal, but I do know that 87burban is a well known and respected member of the forum. Many here would do wise to yield his advise.

Furthermore, chatting in a sales thread is against the rules. I am just explaining the knife to you in an attempt to educate you further. Anyone else that wants the information is free to take from it too.

Nothing in the pictures tell me that they are machine made.
Due to this, I am going to defer to the Knifemakers description, videos, pictures, and openness about his process. He has spoken with many folks, some on this very forum in person about how he makes his knives. Two people have been to his shop when he does all of his work, and seen this first hand.

I know there are plenty of Chinese sites that sell fraudulent items (knives being amongst them), and the only definitive trail that I have is through a vendor that sells genuine items (Fort Henry), and this particular knife was sold through that site. I linked the actual sales thread above.
