zulus and natives!

I have a native from Bobby and a Zulu from Zscherny and one from Lloyd. I have to say I like the zulu pattern more. The pattern just looks better to me. Nothing wrong with the native though.. it seems to be a go-to pattern for tactical/modern knife guys who branch out.. Bobby makes an outstanding knife with a great action and you'll be happy either way.

Would you have a photo of the Zscherny?

Why not ask Bobby Toole if he has a Toole design that would float your boat rather than a Bose or Oeser design. You might be pleasantly surprised.

I like to buy knives that are unique. It's fun for the maker as well to bring alive their own design. For example I like Remington bullet style knives and fell in love with a Merz knife that is not a Remington pattern, but similar. It has 45 bullet as a shield as a kind of joke and was a one-off when I bought it.

I've seen Toole's work at a few shows and I believe he has some of his own designs, single blade, not too big or small.

I was sceptical of contemporary takes on traditionals a while back, but now absolutely love 'em - particularly so my Natives.

Not only attractive, but a nice easy pinch-pull to open, and a very useful practical blade shape.....you won't go wrong........you won’t go wrong with a Zulu either

This last one is another contemporary form, called a Dino.

Those are some gorgeous blades! The Dino is a nice sort of middle ground too, with gentler slopes. The Zulu/spearpoint really hits me aesthetically, but I think if it came down to it the tip on the native shape often looks a little stronger to me in terms of actual use. And I know that blade-shape taxonomy is not an exact science --- I'd be hard-pressed to describe the difference between the Damascus "native" and the Dino tooth blade shapes in those photos. If it looks good and it's useful, I don't care what it's called!

Stunning blades...do you have a pic of your BLT native?

I’m a big fan of the Zulu. This is my favorite; arguably the finest knife made by GEC to date.
