Can someone give me as a newbie some practical insight into the major difference between the Zytel and Aluminum handles on the Flash II. Is the Aluminum worth the money, or is it just a preference thing. I am going to buy 3 SOG knives tomorrow and this is one of the only decisions I have left (the other being Tanto or Regular Blade) Thank you all for your wisdom.

If you're buying in person, ask to hold both the Zytel and Aluminum together. You'll immediately notice a difference in weight; the Zytel is ultra light and quick, while the extra weight gives the Aluminum a feeling of sturdiness. Beyond that, I've always felt like the Aluminum had smoother action, but that's just from personal experience. I prefer light weight, so I carry a Zytel handle Flash 2 whenever possible. Hope that helps!

GRFX GUY is right..........

I have both, love both, the zytel is lighter and easier to carry I think.

But.........the aluminum one is such a great feeling solid knife, with a loud POP when it opens, it's hard to not to want to carry it all the time.

The aluminum is for sure worth the money.

Get the zytel first...........then later you can try the aluminum.
