For those with Bryan Breedon Knives

Hey Pitdog -

If you don't mind sharing, what's the thickness at the spine on that "Woody" knife?

It looks like it does a wide variety of tasks without too much problem (though the user probably has alot to do with that!).

It's 1/8" at the spine with a really nice taper which never shows on pics !

If I can ever talk Mrs Pit into letting me have any more knives, I'd like a Breeden version of this~

Pitdog, I like that British knife you showed. You know that type of knife with a slant in the handle would be so sweet. Talk about a freaking chopper of a knife. That gives me a idea for sure. That British type blade, like you posted, but with a slanted handle 20 degrees for the slant and then I could see a 9" long blade and 3/16" thick blade on it, that is definately do able. Well I just can't make one it is better to make 2 lol;) so tell:eek:, a scratch that Say pretty please:D Dena, I need to get another knife from Bryan.

Make sure you have Dena's favorite flowers and chacolates on hand and do not tell her any promises you do not intend to keep. Oh and tell her how pretty she is and all that mushy stuff, let here know that you really need this 3rd bigger knife to round out the 3 knife system that you have been needing. you got your Bugaboo knife ( small) and then your Woody knife ( med ) and then when you get the bigger British type knife( large ) you will have best alround 3 knife system that a woodsman like you needs.
yea, yea that is what I would say to her.

I am sending you a PM. also. I have a idea:thumbup:

Yea that woody knife you got pitdog really does have a nice taper from spine down to the edge. I just got a order today for one like your Woody knife. I used a rotating platen when I did your knife.

Chat with you all later,

Bryan

Can you tell me more about the orange handled knife on the right?

That's kind of a custom pattern I ordered from Bryan. The blade shape was from one of his designs stretched out to 5.5 inches. Handle was of my pattern, 4.5 inches long. 3/32" thick steel. It was kind of an interesting experiment. If the blade was shorter it would be a great little knife in my opinion.

rocketbomb, If you want it just a little shorter bring it down and I will make it so. lol since you have not seen the new shop yet when you get a chance and can come down let me know, it would be reat to have a visit again.

Here is a pic of rocketbomb and me. rocketbomb is on the left holding his new Peacmaker knife.

Bryan,

You're not making the wait any easier my friend. :p

What fantastic knives. If i were closer i'd love to swing by your shop and have a chat. Maybe sometime after March.....

That Peacemaker is a great looking knife-as well as the mini-version below it. BTW, I think that hat fits you perfectly. Every man needs a good hat...

THanks Pitdog! Looks like a great blade and it's helpful to get a context to the size, etc when looking at your pics. Nice wide blade too - great design!

Hi all,

Frank, sorry about the pics man lol. No really I am:p.

Caine, I think you mean 2008 for your year with your peacemaker. I was not not making knives in 2003 lol I was not even a member here yet.

Bryan

Yea, sure.

It's just like the time i bought that ocean front property there in Nebraska from that sweet old lady or when i invested in ownership shares for the Brooklyn Bridge or when - you get the idea. I somehow just don't believe it! ;)

British Army, this is bigger than I'd want, I'd be looking at maybe a 9" blade made from possibly 3/16".http://www.machetespecialists.com/sh13incrgowi.html
You are in error amigo. That isn't issue kit. There are loads of those floating about here for about £10-£12 at the same kind of places folks get Web-Tex from. I don't know where they are made, maybe China. Given that China has been putting out some good stuff recently I'm more minded to think Pakistan. Don't be misled by that arrow stamp and casual resemblance to a #2, or the fact it comes in an SA80 bayonet frog. I'm not surprised you want a better version. You have probably already noticed it won't cut anything due to the fact it is just a flat bit of bar stock that has had one side rubbed up a belt to make an stubby obtuse edge, but you just wait for the fun bit. Regardless of what it is made from [FIIK] the heat treatment is a load of boswellox. It might not show up straight away if you only split a few sticks with it but it will if you use it like a proper #2 or the newer Martindale. I posted comparison pics about three or four years ago.

Thanks for the correction buddy, I was thinking that was a Martindale #2, I re-read Wiki and it does say a copy. Still love the look of this one though, I think a Breeden version with a slightly cranked handle would be awesome.

I can promise the Breeden version will come razor sharp.
