“Simple” but exquisite knives

I love the simplistic design of the Protech Godson.

If I have to talk about clean, elegant designs, here’s what I’ve got;

MBK (Monterey Bay Knife Company) has some great designs. Simple, elegant, and clean. Check out the EZC, the EWC, and for an even cleaner design (integral handle) check out the XLC.

I really like some of WE’s designs they have put out there for simplicity (others, not so much, but some of them…). Someone mentioned the Black Void Opus earlier, I’m going to mention the Seer. Especially the one with the hand-rubbed satin blade and black Ti. I’ve owned one for a little while now, and I really like it a lot. Critics and reviewers knocked it for having no “pop” or anything “particularly special”, but that’s what I like about it. Two pieces of titanium and a thin piece of 20CV.

Beauty can be found in simplicity. Looking over the pictures here, it is interesting to see how different people interpret simplicity. Recent folders like the WE Beacon fit for me. The Seer is a little fancier but still counts. (I have a nice picture of the latter if anyone wants to see.) I also like some of the Laconico designs made by Monterey Bay.

There is a little bit of flair in the handle aesthetic but I think this fits. I picked up this little knife from David Mary David Mary and it has been very handy. The attention to ergonomics is noteworthy.

A simple but exquisite knife? Hmmm, I think the CRK Mnandi fits that description. A nice slip-joint fits that description as well.

I have always loved Mnandis but have never handled one. Are you able to open it with one hand with that notch or does it require 2 hands?

I have seen people post here on Bladeforums that they can open it one handed but I cannot. I carried slipjoint s for several years so it is not a big deal for me to use two hands for opening the blade.as an office worker it suits my needs perfectly. The size is just right for my needs, the S30v blade steel holds an edge reasonably well and is easy to sharpen. I looks good and unlike my slipjoint s the blade locks open. I have been carrying my Mnandi for just over a year now and I have no real desire to replace it with something else.

Nice man, thanks for the info!🤙 Yea I've been wanting a Mnandi for like 15 years. They're just such a nice simple, elegant design. One of these days I'll spring for one.

Something else that may or may not matter to you is the pocket clip. I personally despise pocket clips so the optionAl screw available from CRK matches the other knife hardware if you decide to remove the clip. The pocket clip is also pretty damn good looking if you like those things.

Ok yea that's a good point. I have kind of a love/hate relationship with clips. They're so handy in daily use but they almost always mess with the ergos quite a bit. On a small mnandi type folder I might carry it in a pocket slip with a clip on the sheath.
