💥Blast from the Past💥 (unofficial nostalgic older knife thread)

Going through some of my older, modern (oxy moron) knives from 20 plus yrs back and came across this Benchmade Gravitator that I drilled and tapped for a "tip up" carry way back when.
Still a smooth opening knife with rock solid lock up.

Always loved that one..👍👍👍

RJ’s Cyprus V2.
A knife I never realized was even a FF..
A knife I probably wouldn’t have considered until I saw this config..
Black Ti scales, ultra fine diamond milling. Raw Ti spacer & clip.
Vanax blade, blasted finish with polished flats.
.10” blade stock, hollow ground to nearly nothing. This blade is super thin and slicey.

This is a cool one from their archives. Looks like a direct ancestor to the Crooked River

Sneaky Saturday...checking out the OG concealed Belt Buckle Knife, the Gerber "Touché" designed by "Blackie" Collins 😎

You’re on a roll Chip! I just tried to comment on the YouTube vid but it didn’t work so I “boosted “ instead

Seeing as I started the thread…I should probably participate as well as love seeing all the older goodies everyone posts. 🤣😂

These two are modern “oldies.” A Wharncliffe Gravitator and a BM GC Torrent.

I just picked up this little Gerber Silver Knight from the exchange and I have mixed emotions. It's such a well made knife, I am pleased to have it, but it makes me sad to think what Gerber used to be.

I am a little hopeful, though, as I see they are now offering more US made knives than they have in recent years*. The updated version of the LST is a pretty handy little folder and feels/behaves very well made for what it is.

I would love to see them faithfully revisit some more of their old designs, especially those from the 80s.

*I know the Silver Knight was made in Japan. My point is not necessarily to criticize the location of the OEM, I am moreso concerned with the quality of construction. Lots of other great brands partner with firms in Japan, Taiwan, etc. who do great work. The US made Gerber knives I have handled in recent years were all much higher quality than the rest of their offerings.
