0.25 Inch Thick Knife or 1/4 Inch thick

I'd second the Scrap Yard 511 . It's 3/16 thick , but Scrap Yard make VERY hard use knives . They are up for sale on thier site right now and you can get one and odred the sheath with it for less than the price you want to spend .

This. Scrap Yard can't be beat for the value, and toughness. Warranty is tops.

Since the 511 is 5.5 blade long, Do you think it's legal for Texas carry (5.5"). I don't know wether its SMALLER than 5.5" or 5.5" OR SMALLER for legal carry in Tx

I could think of a few knives that are 0.25 inches but I'm not sure about 1/4 inches.

I'm gonna say check the custom makers again. I have seen several kwaikens in that size range, and priced in your budget. Why not try making one yourself?! Immensely satisfying, budget friendly, and a true custom tailored knife for your needs. Pick up an old leaf spring, build a bonfire to anneal it, get a high tension hacksaw, 4" angle grinder and a big file followed by some sandpaper. Chisel grind, cord wrapped and you got a knife! Where in Tx are you? Many makers here in TX that would be more than happy to help you make one or at least heat treat it for you.

they are from TX. I'm sure they could tell you, assuming the laws haven't changed since they moved to OH maybe 2 years ago

you could also check out the scrapyard Dumpster Mutt, S5 (my fav), yard keeper, and from Swamprat, the Ratmandu (other fav), Howling Rat, Rodent 4

which did you like? you should be able to get a Rodent 4, RMD, OR 511 easily. The others will take a little searching but aren't hard to find. They don't come with sheaths so that's going to push up the price some, but it is definitely worth it in my opinion.

or just email Eric and you can "preorder" a rodent 4 and you could ask about the RMDs.

If you want to take the plunge into Bussekin, shoot me an email and I can help you out a few different ways.

Hey dark, Thanks very much for your help, I love the RMD but without a sheath it's a bit over my budget ($142) .. Guess i'll have to wait for it. I'm just going to get the Esee-5 or find somthing as good, worth the $$. (besides the bk2) 1 more question -- Which one is better RMD or the SYKCO 511?

I like the RMD better but they are same steel, same size, similar profiles, and the 511 is lighter. they just moved the swamprat page to http://www.swamprat.com/ so that would explain the wierdness on the old page yesterday

the lines are 4", 5", and 5.5" from the front of the handles. top down:
1. Scrapyard S5 LE, the regular ones are coated.

2. Ratmandu (RMD) I stripped and convexed. They are high sabre ground from the factory

3. Scrapyard 511 military overrun with a different choil

4. Swamprat HRLM howling rat little mischief

5. Swamprat INFIcoot. Just like the bandicoot but INFI instead of SR 101

the Rodent 4 is a 2011 design. The RMD is 2005ish but they just ran another run of them. You can definitely get a rodent 4 direct from the store. Its showing about 4.58" I think. the RMD is more like 5.4. There is a good chance you could still get an RMD if you ask Eric. I'm not sure how thick the Rodent 4 is, but it is plenty thick enough for rough use

is you have any questions about them, several people in the Swamprat and Busse sub forums have both, might even get a good side by side. There's a few rodent 9 threads going
