^ I agree. It's not that ZT, or any other reputable company for that matter, can't make a knife like an XM-18. They just are choosing not too. It very well could be the partnership they have with Rick Hinderer. How would you like if you partnered with a company to make some knives and then they turned around and made a cheaper copy of a popular knife you sold? That would hurt your business significantly. Not a very good business move or healthy partnership is it? Think about it.

If you want those specs on a knife, then buy an XM-18. It seems that the real reason for the complaint is that it isn't affordable for the one complaining and they want a clone that is.
I wont pay the going rate for an XM-18 either but I'm not going to bitch to another company on why they don't produce a clone that I am willing to pay for. Buy something you are willing to pay for and be happy. There are many out there.

Unfortunately, that's not the only alternative. And that is PRECISELY the point I'm trying to make. If you're going to partner with someone to increase your revenue and reduce the risk of losing sales to the bad guys, it's not a good idea to leave your flank exposed.

Because anything over that is waaay too heavy. Imagine having to carry 5 extra quarters in your pocket...that's 1 ounce! The weight would be unbearable and would limit my ability to walk upright.

It doesn't have to be less than 4 ounces. But some people, myself included, like lightweight folders. And obviously there's a market for them. Otherwise, I doubt Rick would maintain a lightweight version of the XM-18 in his lineup.
 
Unfortunatley then, it looks like you need to look else where doesn't it?

you misunderstood my post it seems as well. I dont have anything against the 056X series. I own a standard 0560. Im simply stating that due to my limited funds and that since the additional features of the CBCF dont really interest me , that im going to save my money for the 0600. Come one guys, not everything is cryptic. We dont need to go that deep with every comment made.

I really love that when people use their own preferences to devalue someone elses. So just so im getting this right since some people dont care about weight your not supposed to either? Last time I checked certain products in the ZT lineup would NEVER have made it into production unless the buyers spoke up and proclaimed the desire for it. Im telling you man something has really changed in this forum. Its like the bali bros of the kershaw world. I remember a time when we could discuss all things KAI. The good and the bad. And do it like gentlemen. These days it seems you cant speak unless your planting lips on rear. I understand liking a company. And even liking it alot. But seriously,I think its just as annoying to have everyone thinking there is a butt kissing discount. Every single time I see any comment that remotely calls into question decisions of KAI USA anywhere on the forum and the mafia comes out of the woodwork guns blazing.

Honestly I dont think its was just the naysayers that got on Thomas' nerves. It might of been because of drama in general. But crying foul anytime someone asks for something or doesnt like something is a good way to start drama. How else is ZT or KAKI supposed to gauge interest. And what is productive about just telling a company that is obvisously good that they are good all the time. Havent you ever heard of the annoying groupie whos only job is seems is to tell the rockstar how great they are? KAI KNOWS who they are. And praising a company is all good. But there is good in criticism. All feedback is good feedback. It helps gauge demand for new products. And it helps the company know what move to make next. But if all you guys want to do is yes mam the company thats fine. But i think they can answer for themselves.

Good thing you can speak for thomas. And you want an example? This thread is a pretty good one. Or any thread where someone has a problem with a product like the thread with the CBCF with the cracked scale. Or the thread where I hinted at the idea that the zt 0777 was IMHO heavily influenced by the Sinkevich Sidis designs. I cant remember very many times anyone can make any critical comment on ZT or KAI products without at least a few snide remarks from the mafia.

OK, I read back thru this thread, and the first comment by a Mafia member was mine, poking fun at the "under 4 ounces" whine that has been a running joke on this sub since it was first mentioned.
