0562CF vs 0452CF

I owned both very briefly, and would say 0452CF all the way, due to the weight. And it's a heck of a blade, if you like big blades.

Unlike most, I make a habit of carrying 4+ inch folders. It's one of the reasons I like Emersons, much to the contrary of most on these boards. They have a "super" version of most knives that is more than 4" long.

The ZT0452CF carries like a much smaller knife. Lightweight, slim, and just cuts like hell. I'm in love.

ZT0562CF no doubt. Its pretty light, a stronger blade design than the 0452CF, and a handle with fantastic ergonomics. If you really want a stonewashed blade, the ZT0562 G10 is the way to go.

Would the comparatively carbide rich 204p (562) hold a working edge longer vs. the s35vn (452) taking a keener edge and possibly a touch more toughness?

If so, would it be That noticeable (working edge wear vs toughness required), and should that help him make his decision?

So I just saw on knifecenter that ZT has switched the 0562cf steel to cpm20cv. I'm sure there are still batches laying around in 204p though

yea m390/20cv/204p will keep an edge longer than s35vn. but s35vn is slightly easier to sharpen

0452 does have an m390 sprint you can find used.

So what about a toughness difference?

OP: what are your daily uses?
Do you expect to impact staples, dirty materials, lateral edge loading?

For me, it's 0452cf by a mile between those two. It carries smaller because it's not as wide, and it's a great design.

Tough call. It really depends on what you liked more about the 0560. The 0562 is going to have a more similar feel to the 0560, although it's actually closer in size to the 0550. The 0452 is closer in length to the 0560, but it is much slimmer.

My 0452 had mushy lockup, my 0562cf you can't push the lockbar all the way over with your thumb , like I could the 0452.

I'll buck the trend and suggest another option, the 0804CF. It's closer in size to the 0560 and I think you would be very happy with it.

Eh, that one just doesn't do much for me. I hate the cutout for the pocket clip and it just looks too much like a block. Might be different if I could find one to hold though.

Are there any rumors about new knives they may be introducing at SHOT show?

We'll know in about 14 hours.

That sounds like you got a dud, not that it is a symptom of the model. You can't push the lockbar on my 0452.

Good luck finding one of those. The only I can find now is modded and its still got a 599 asking price.

I would LOVE this knife in m390. So mad I missed that run. Hope they do another one in m390 with some other coloring or something eventually since they never re-do a sprint.

Ok, so let me ask this: If my goal is to own another 560 sometime soon, should I just not bother with the 562 since they're similar in size/shape and just get the 452CF since it's a totally different design?

Well, the 562 is 1/4" smaller and the 452 is 1/4" larger.
The difference comes down to blade/handle shape and how then knife will be perceived by the public and how you feel about that.

I think that the 562 is a superb knife, but keep in mind that I have yet to handle a 452. That being said, the 562 might feel redundant while the 452 will offer you some breadth if your carry.

They are definitely related, but totally different knives in hand. I think you'll find that there is room for both if you still crave the 0560. I'll try to take a family picture tonight.

In the pocket, the 0452 feels smaller.

I don't know why the 0452 is only S35VN though--most of the other CF ZTs are the "dressier" version and have a steel upgrade as well.

The 0652CF will have 20cv/204p/m390 depending on when it was made.
