Awhile ago, I sent KAI an email to tell them to make a tactical version of a skyline. I don't think I had that much influence on them, but I know people wanted smaller, lighter ZTs.

So here it is. I will fulfill questions about it and take pics as promised. I can't fill all requests, but I will do what I can.

Does the pocket clip from a 0550 fit on it?

Don't know. I wish Tomas was here to answer this. I don't have a 550 and probably won't. Some ZT knives are priced low enough to be real users, some are priced higher and for me those are show-ers. I don't have many show-ers. The 550 is a nice blade but just not for me.

Any requests for pictures or any other questions about the blade?

Thanks for the pix. Can you take a in-hand pix? And what's your initial impression?

That gimping on the back of the handle looks vicious... Can one retrieve things from the same pocket it's clipped to, without damaging the skin on your hands? (In tip up config.) And hows the deployment? Thx again..

Wow. The similarities when closed really makes me excited. Thank you for all the photos. Is it spring assisted?

I can see the resemblance to the Skyline, but I feel like it's quite a bit different. Both great designs, but different enough that I think they could still make a ZT version of the Skyline that's just much more robust like a ZT and a bit bigger, but maybe not quite as big as the 780. I wish the 780 was a little smaller. I know it's lighter than usual ZT's but it's still not a very small knife. I think the blade is still 3.5 inches and I wish it was more like 3.25 or 3 and an 1/8th. Anyway, I will probably buy one still. I wish the price point was a little lower but I realize it IS a ZT. I think they were supposed to be about $90 and I know they upgraded the steel but I think it could have been closer to $100. I feel like this knife is a good competitor for the Para 2 and at $100 or so it would be a direct competitor. I could also probably get over the fact that the fit and finish isn't probably quite on par with the 0550 or 0560 if it was closer to $100. I don't mean to complain about this knife, though, because like I said, I will buy one.

I hope the "headquarters" will do a special run of these with a stonewashed blade like they did with the ZT 350. It currently looks a little scary for EDC. It would be nice if they also gave it a discount like they did with the 350, too :)

That thing is sweet. I'm picturing it with a stonewashed blade and maby some blue scales.... Awesome :)

I love it, but could do without the big protruding hunk of metal on the butt of the handle.

i like that i can spydie drop it open..flips open like the skyline, and the thumb studs work....liners are milled out..handle feels perfect in hand

Got mine the other day as well. It's not assisted opening and flips out nicely. Does need some wrist action when using the flipper. Jumping hasn't been an issue for me. Only thing that gets in my way when clipping are the screws. I have to give it a little push to go all the way down in the pocket.
