1 CRK Knife For 1 Year!

I am starting the 1YC with my large sebenza 31 black micarta inlay, starting now 3-26-22, this is my 1st try.

I assume honesty is the name of the game here and daily photos or write ups aren’t necessary?

Its an honor thing. But keep in touch and let us know how you are doing.

I’d love it do this and I’ve considered it. I’m afraid it would make the rest of my collection useless excess.

I took down my knife and cleaned and lubed it (as I do with all new firearms as well) and sharpened it up on my wicked edge, 20 per side. The factory is closer to 22 per side but I figured it’s easier to touch up on the go on the sharp maker if need be. I’m curious to see how the S45VN holds up compared to my inkosi S35VN.

I'm approaching the 4 month mark officially in the challenge, and 6 month mark unofficially with my small 31. I've been pretty happy with how the s45vn performs.

I’m glad to hear that. I normally carry S90V which I love. I’m not crazy about the convex edge CRK puts on their blades so I always reprofile the blades but keep them at factory angle or close to it (2 degrees off, woohoo! Lol)

I’m going to have to withdraw from the contest. I just ordered a Manix 2 Cru Wear and there’s no way that I’m not going to carry it. I’m a weak man.

Haven’t had much to use it on except opening up meats for dinner. Running around all day with my newborn son doesn’t leave much time for mischief.

Tomorrow will be one week. Man time flies! Nothing else has been in my pocket but I’m noticing outside of work (on FMLA currently) I’m not using it as often as I’d like to. Kitchen tasks normally require a much larger knife and that’s about the extent of my knife use daily. Once I get hunting or working outside (when it finally gets warm out) I’m sure it will see much more use. I’ve got to say though, after sharpening to 20 degrees per side and having a V edge, this has to be the sharpest knife amongst my “collection” of knives, and they’re all sharpened the same, steps wise.

It is with a small amount of sadness that I withdraw myself from this challenge, one day before 4 official months. I got a new El Baraka douk douk last week, and I realized how much I missed my old stand by. Today the angst became too much and I slipped my the older douk douk in my pocket.

This challenge is like Nebraska…Its not for everyone! Go enjoy your other knives.

I really thought that it would be a breeze, I carried the douk douk for 2 and a half years pretty much exclusively, and I started carrying that sebenza at the end of September (found an old post from the day after it arrived dated the 27th). Turns out I'm just a slip joint kind of guy after all. 🤷‍♂️ It was fun, and I'll continue to enjoy the sebenza when I get the urge to carry something more modern.
