Hi guys,

shady behaviour I recently had with this seller. I wanted to purchase this knife:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1110986-*****-sold

Original price was $300 shipped with money order or $310 with PP. For me as I'm overseas it was $325 with PP. It was agreed in the evening EU time so I went sleep and ready to pay in the morning. But after checking PMs in the morning I've found GatorFlash asked me for $25 more - $350 all in.

What do you think about it? I know no money and knife were not paid/shipped but also never found such experience with sellers for years.

I'll let him know about this thread for sure.

I know once i tried shipping a watch to Africa, i quoted the guy shipping of $20, but when I went to my mail store they told me it would run $40-$70

It was an honest mistake, and i ended up just finding a site for the guy to buy the same watch (nib rather then used) for around the same price...
Both party's ended up being happy, but i think communication and reasoning has to be solid in order to keep the deal smooth

If you're going to post a thread like this it would certainly help posting details about why there was an increase in price.

This is not about price of shipping. Let me citate his last PM:

" I think it is fair to sell this great Skirmish for what I originally listed it at. You said you would take it at that price, and I made a mistake in the email about the original price thinking it was the $300 knife not the $325 knife.

Let us just part ways in a friendly manner and not have to squabble about the price of this knife. I'm sure I will sell it shortly and I will not have to worry about international shipping problems, etc. "

Price was also stated on his sale thread, not only in email.

The guy has 100% positive feedback. He made a mistake and he didn't bind you to the sale for the increased price, nor did he pull a fast one on you. You've lost nothing.

Let it go.

It sounds to me that he made a mistake as well. Why do you think he would offer you a discount after you agreed to take it at the original price?

Just so everyone is clear the original price in the thread is 325.

Original prive was $310 with PP. But it doesn't matter, important is that he increased price $25 without reason:

"Hi Laurin,

Wow, that was fast. You can by sending a check or money order for $300.00 to:

or Paypal for $310.50 to:

I'll ship the same day as payment.

Best

Doug"

As I said before it sounds like he may have made a mistake with the price. The original price posted in the thread is 325.

The price for the knife when you said I'll take it was 325.

I don't think this should of been brought out in public, No money was took, he didn't get over on you, Post#8 says it all , even post #4 says " I think it is fair to sell this great Skirmish for what I originally listed it at. You said you would take it at that price, and I made a mistake in the email about the original price thinking it was the $300 knife not the $325 knife.

That tells me he just made an honest mistake. Sorry you didn't get your knife but if you really wanted it why not just pay the little bit of extra cash and get it?

Sellers willing to ship overseas need to do their homework when posting sales threads. Knowing in advance what the extra cost of shipping will fall is an important detail that should not be ignored or left as a detail to be worked out at some point.

Hey Laurin...a mans word is gold. How does it feel when one promises you something then makes a U turn.......

I've quote a member $25 shipped to Australia, insured. My mistake. Next day I found out First Class + Registered do not offer insurance value over $50. Only priority ($38) or express EMS ($49) does insurance $500.

I can either go back and plead that I made a mistake, re-quote. Or I eat it. Turns out that I am a man of my words, so I ate the $38 priority.

In your case, just a simple mistake on shipping quote. No biggy.

Again to clear things up the discrepancy has nothing to do with shipping.

Are you going to edit the title of the thread?

To quote $15 international shipping is foolhardy.I once shipped to South Africa & quoted $45,& it cost me $50.

I'm glad everything worked out but people should educate themselves on international shipping rates or just stick with ConUS.

This. I make sure to post in all my sales threads that if an international buyer is interested, I will get a quote from USPS before letting them know how much more I would want. The way I see it, if I tell someone it costs $xxx amount for them, then it will cost that much for them. If I make a mistake or didn't do my homework, then they shouldn't have to pay extra.

REAL original price was $325. Stated it was mistake on confirmation email. Take his word on that.

Real price plus $25 for PP fees and International shipping?

= $350.

Correct math to me.

I contacted GatorFlash and he preferred to let this thread die out and not participate. I can't say I disagree.
