$100-200 Fixed blade?.. and go..

If he is just going to be cutting Twigs and small things tell him he can't beat one of the BK's ~ #15 or #16 or #17's > !
But if he is going to be doing heavy and light then tell him a BK2 or the BK9 are really good for the money ~~ I have all of
these and for the money you can't beat them.!

Gotta go with Wolf man 12 on this one.

I too prefer the "traditional" fixed blades and think that they look and feel sweet; pleasure to own. When it comes to using however, the Beckers are hard to beat. For what his intended uses are i would recommend a BK-9 and one of the Tweeners (BK 15, 16, or 17) and, considering budget and tastes, dress them up with "traditional" optional handle slabs of Micarta or perhaps fancy wood. Through in a nice traditional styled leather sheath for the selected Tweener and you are set!

Benchmade saddle mountain Skinner/hunter

Arno Bernard 20th anniversary bush baby w/ wart hog ivory handle.

The Saddle Mountain Skinner is as sexy as Saddle Mtn itself....I will be personally owning that knife myself...As a bonus since I live only an hour from the knifes namesake, I will be hiking said mountain with said knife....

Other Options, Swamp Rat, Fallkniven, Helle, Bark River, all would be quite nice....but for something super special, go custom..chances are no one else he ever meets will have the same blade☺
