Well, it finally happened. I'm going 100% Spyderco. I'm selling my only Benchmade. It was the knife that I played with the least and I never got use to the Axis lock. Sal - you win! :D

Ah... another satisfied customer!!!;) Those who know... use Spyderco!
Cheers,
Rob

Native-III, Delica, Endura, Calypso. Can't really see a need for anything else at this time. I bet I'm one of the quickest "hooked-on Spydie" customers ever. :D

Dear Friends,

With the widest variety of well-thought out designs, the best steel available, and the absolute most fantastic customer service in the industry, why bother wasting your time with other brands?

Any time I spend my hard-earned cash on anything other than a Spyderco, I always trade it off. ;)

I'll stick with my Spydies, thank you. :D

MeyerCo! Yippie! I sold my only spyderco :barf: , in favor of something better....like smith and wesson:jerkit:

To be perfectly honest, I'm not 100% Spyderco...:o

I've got many knives from other manufacturers as well, of various styles and uses. I've got knives that are fun to play with(Balis), knives that are fun to look at and use every once in a while(customs), and knives that just needed to be bought for one reason or the other(Kershaw Outcast, I'll never use it, but it looks so d*** cool).

But when I need a knife I'm going to really USE, it's ALWAYS a Spyderco.

Because Spyderco doesn't make everything? I won't argue that Spyderco uses top notch materials, provides excellent and revolutionary designs, and is first among its peers in creating a sharp using knife. Spyderco's strength is in its pocket lasers. If you want a high-tech tool Spyderco is the company for you.

But the world of knives is not limited to just the latest and greatest innovation. There are ethnic and traditional knives. There are also fixed blades and mega choppers. To limit yourself to Spyderco's knives is to limit your choices. That's fine if that is what appeals to you, but some of us like more variety. My Military is my most used knife but I also have wonderful knives from Buck, Camillus, Microtech, Himalayan Imports, and Bark River. I also enjoy picking up knives from exotic places of the world. I own a Philippine balisong, Nepalese khukuri, French Laguiole, Spanish Navaja, and German straight razor. One day I hope to own an Indonesian parang, Brazilian sorocabana, Scottish dirk, Finnish puukko, Tibetan thee and other knives I can't think of right now. It's good to have choices and even though we have our favorites I hope we always have the abundance of good knives we have today.

I am amazed that I was taken so seriously. T'was just a bit of a joke. :foot:

To be completely honest, I *don't* buy other brands of knives often, as I am very accustomed to Spyderco features and am uncomfortable with a lot of other knives. I have handled many wonderful knives getting to this point, but I suppose I am just too set in my ways to change now! :D

I daresay you *will* be hard-pressed to find *any* other manufacturer with the diversity in their line that Spyderco possesses. I tend to find that frequently a knife manufacturer's designs all look alike to me, or at least like it was only one or two guys designing them. Consider the Dodo, Yojimbo, Poliwog, and Kiwi. ;) Very different in form, but the excellence of function remains. Spyderco also, IMO, takes more chances than most manufacturers on their designs. Most others tend to play it a bit on the safe side.

I have played with Microtech, MOD, Benchmade, and many other wonderful knives of excellent manufacture. I always come back to Spyderco.

Personal opinion, you understand. You collect what makes you happy. ;)

I'll stick with Spyderco. :D

Again, t'was just a little joke with an admitted tinge of truth to it.

Senseless? Not exactly, IMO. Should I find another manufacturer's design that really appeals to me of course I will buy it. I do not limit myself to Spyderco knives out of snobbery or blind brand loyalty. I simply prefer their knives to any others that I have tried in the past, based on a combination of form, function, price and value. To *me*, they represent the best that I can get for my dollar on the market at this time.

It's just me, I'm afraid. I have wasted a LOT of money on other brands that I ultimately traded off, some of them spectacular knives. I still occasionally pine away for a Microtech DA Auto that I had for a brief time, but autos being illegal to carry in my jurisdiction made that decision for me; I liked the knife too well to leave it home, and that was beginning to concern me a bit as I would like to both keep my knives and stay out of jail!

So collect what you will and enjoy them, love them, carry them.

As for me, I carry Spyderco. I suppose I count myself among "those who know?" ;)

I wasn't replying to you. I didn't even read your posts in this thread. I was just responding to the idea of buying only Spyderco knives. That's silly to me.

You don't bother reading the content of the threads you reply to? Seriously?

I should clarify that I am now 100% Spyderco when it comes to production lock blades. I still have my Randalls, customs, and my beloved Victorinox Super Tinker.

minnesotashooter,

Coincidentally, the Benchmade that I'm selling is a 551 Griptilian. Like I said, as well made as it is, I just couldn't warm up to the Axis lock and the hollow, plastic sound of the handle. :(

I skim threads that I don't find very relevent or that don't interest me, like this one. Longer posts I may read a couple of sentences from to get the general idea, but I don't bother reading a whole rant that I don't care about. The only interesting idea I gathered was that people would dedicate themselves to a single manufacturer, and so I responded to that idea in turn. Don't be offended.

Spydercos are my favorite, ever since I bought Endura back in '98. Currently I have Manix, Manix 83mm, UKPK, ZDP Caly, grey Caly, Delica 4 SS, Atlantic Salt, all lefty friendly. :)

Other knives in my small collection are Benchmade 710 (M2), Fallkniven F1 and WM1, and Camp Tramp. Very good knives too!

A large majority of the knives I own are Spydercos; even after having traded off a few that I never used. Spyderco is clearly my favorite manufacturer, but I don't think I could limit myself to just one brand. Benchmade is my #2 choice BTW. However, when I really anticipate using my knife, I go with a Spyderco.

Around 1992 I acquired an Endura, my first decent knife. Over the years I walked many paths, adding Benchmade, Kershaw, Cold Steel, CRKT, SOG, Gerber, Boker and other Spydercos to my collection. In the last two years I made the journey back to Spyderco and have not bought any other brands since then. That's my choice, which is like "going home" to me cause that was where it started.

And, like with everything else in my world, it's about value for money. I rate Spyderco the best bang for your buck.

If the person doing that is happy, what's the harm? It's certainly not senseless. Limited, maybe, but not senseless.
