Guess I have to give something away now :)

One of my little neckers!

It's similar to this: (my wife ran off with the camera, so I can't take a pic right now)

How about these rules-

Post one picture (if possible) of a piece of gear - knife, tarp, hammock, water purifier, sharpener, whatever- that you think is uniquely special, and tell us why.

I'll do a random draw on Wednesday evening around 20:00 PDT.

Congrats on 1000 posts Koyote! I'm sitting out on the contest but that's very nice of you.

Hey thanks for the contest! And congratulations on 1000!

My Leatherman wave is special to me, because it was given to me by my wife to replace the old Leatherman I had for years. I carry it every single day, and use it almost as often. Recently I made it more practical as well, by incorporating a firesteel, fatwood, and a bit of 550 cord.

The only picture of the actual Leatherman is with my Mora:

P.S. Sorry, it took a couple of photos to really show what I'm talking about.

P.P.S. Now that I look, I blew right by 1000 posts lol, oh well, I'll make up for it by posting two give aways next time

Congrats on the 1000 mark. Thank you for offering the giveaway to our folks. Good luck everyone!

This is a knife made from the G-10 I have been giving away to knife makers for cost of shipping, so far, I have bought 5 to give away to workers who handle the shipping. Great knives for EDC and work.

My gear would be the first knife I made. I still haven't thought of a name for it.

My grandfather died in 03 and I was given his tools. Out of which was a few very old and very used files. With the help of the guys on this forum and a lot of determination, I was able to turn the file into the pic below.

The only tools I used were an angle grinder, a hand held palm belt sander (held in a vice), and a file jig I saw on GreenPete's website.

I left the teeth on the file and used hickory for the handle. I gave it to my brother as a Christmas present, but I never named it. Suppose I should get around to that.

I got these two knives when I was on my honeymoon, so they are pretty special to me, for the memories.

Thanks for the chance at such a great prize !

congrats christof.. i already have 2 knives of yours, so i'll give someone else a chance...

Congrats on 1000 and thanks for the give away!

My favorite would have to be my GL Drew combo in orange G-10.

These are special to me because Gerry was willing to do the handles in orange. The famous end run knife is now my EDC and slips away under a long t-shirt. The Ulu is very handy in the kitchen and I have also used it for some light chopping (branch removal) on a walking stick.

my first knife i ever owned
its a really old swiss army knife with a different style of sheild and it is just special to me

Wow Koyote tough question !!!

I love the look of that necker though so I have to give it a go !!!!!

I have a lot of items that are special for one reason or another but the first that sprang to mind was my MOD4 knife.
PICT4345.jpg

This knife carries so many memories for me as I bought it when I was a crazy teen who was just getting into the survival stuff and I had no idea what I would be using the knife for. The knife then spent about the next ten years sat in a drawer unused doing nothing , until I got a sudden urge to get it sharpened up.Not knowing how to sharpen a knife I gave it to one of my mates at the coal mine that I worked at who said he could sharpen anything .
To my horror I found he had tried to sharpen it on a large bench grinder and it had bounced around scratching all the coating up !!!
I then passed the blade onto the carpenter who re-worked the edge to a nice finish.
Still not happy I then decided to remove all the remaining coating and was quite pleased with the results.
Around the time I did this we started the process of emigrating from the UK to over here in Canada.
I only took two of my knives with me, my old MOD4 being one of them, the rest I gave away to friends.
Over here in BC I use my MOD4 more than any of my other knives as during the colder months it becomes my main kindling maker and gets used daily.
I have had quite a few offers from other forumites asking if I'd sell it or swap it for one of their blades, my answer is always NO as it has become like a trusty old pal to me now and I have too many memories invested in it !!!!

Koyote, congrats on the thousand! Dont count me in the drawing on this one, for i just got one of your knives recently and would like for someone else to get to expirience your work.

but here is my special peice of gear, it is a Schrade Old Timer stockman, given to me by my grandparents quite some time ago. It was my first knife and is still my favorite folder.

This is my most valued piece because I have carried it for a long time and made many fires with it.

Ted Cash Hudson Bay Tobacco Box.

Sorry I have to figure out how to post a picture.

edit to add: It looks like I cannot add attachments.

Congrats on 1000. Thanks for the contest

This is the marlinspike knife that my dad carried when he went sailing. Nothing special, just sentimental value.
Yes, he carried the cheap, almost useless whistle as well.

Ok KOA knives, trout or Lodge hibachi.

Oh yeah I forgot the bacon!

Special? Nothing cooks like this. I can take it with me and grill the best food anywhere I go.
That's what I call survival!

Oh, man. i'd MAIM for a lodge hibachi like that
They are acually cheaper than a lot of our knives. $124.99 on the Lodge website. You can find them for less, I got mine at the Lodge factory store in Tennessee.
I'd maim if someone tried to take it!
Congrats on the 1000th and great looking knives.
