10000 by 1 Feb? Ye of too little faith!

DC,

You call that a ling cod!?! Throw it back! It is a baby. Up here in AK it is illegal to keep one smaller than 35". I have helped land oned that were over 40 lbs., and I have seen some that were in the 60+ catagory.

I couldn't figure out what you guys were talking about until I looked again and saw that there was a girl attached to that knife. It sure is beautiful.

Screen name? Handle? Wazzat?

Jim March (plain, but it works OK...)

Occupation while in active Law Enforcement.

Now back to DC: Does that black hat not have a emblem? It looks like a Mad Dog hat without the label!

Knife, cod and oaks. I guess we are just gentlemen enough not to mention Donna's rod-holder. Oh my!
Jim

Yekim..thats a keeper here, actually a damn good keeper.

Sniper...the hat originally had an emblem...a local honey wagon service. I liked the hat, not the label

Brian...Penn reel, 25 lb test (Berkeley) and a Berkeley rod. These are bottom fish in the rocks....use about a pound of lead weight and 2 to 3 rigs. Hence the rod support

DC,

I am sure it is a keeper (snicker in CA), I guess I am just a little bit spoiled. You shoulda seen me make enemies when I went to Florida....."you keeping THAT!?!?!?HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHa ...My BAIT is bigger than that." Bass fishermen crack me up.

Mike,
Naw.....I'll stay on the boat, drink beer and guard the knives. The only fish I like is quite dead and well prepared.

On topic:
My nick ShadedDude comes from an internet chat nick that I used to use alot. The nick is B-I. When you turn your head sideways and look at it its just like =-) is a smile, but I have sunglasses on....and someone started calling me the shaded dude, and well, it stuck.

Off topic:
Spear Fishing is fun, but I really enjoyed hunting grouper by hand! Reach way into the deep dark hole till you find him, grab him and pull him out! Then hope you make it back to the boat before the barracuda comes in.

Hey bald1,

We may still get to 10000 before Feb 1, but I don't think it will be on the 29th!

DC, never caught a Ling that big myself, way to go! I love how the meat changes color when you cook it! I use a similar set up, and fish for mine off the rocks, at the "yacht" harber in Capitola, CA. They don't call it catching...

I can grill a mean Mahi Mahi Bill! Come to Florida around late May and catch me in the Keys!

. Please re-read my original. I said "So today, 29 January, the day commencing the weekend we'll hit 10,000...." See I didn't say we'd it it on 29 January!

Donovan,

Spear fishing? Ha! you call that spear fishing, heck, up here, we dive into frozen streams with forks and bring up Chinook salmon all day long. On smaller salmon, we just use our teeth. Every once in a while we get to tangle with a salmon shark or two, that's when we get serious and whip out the SAK and corkscrew the bugger.

All joking aside, My Great grand father did whale hunt, with a spear, in an umiak. Sounds more exciting than my fishing experiences.

Well, I said we'd make 10,000 this weekend and we're about 40 or so short right now with 8 more hours to go until midnight EST.

I wish more folks would post to this thread to answer Mike's original query about their "handles". That and the "whatcha do for a living" thread only has 1 of every 12 registered forumites disclosing how they get the money to buy their blades....

I'd hate to see Mike's call for a number to use to determine the winner of January's knife giveaway produce the 10,000th post...
