1000th post giveaway

I want to buy a shallot I think, sharpening a recurve scares me though. I handled one at a local store the other day, its a nice knife.

Congrats fishboy! Nice pick-up, you'll love it!

Very nicely done contest SV...thanks and happy belated B-Day to your daughter!

Thanks SP. I'll pass it on to her.
fishboy huh? And you got all over me for calling someone a fathead. :D

I have declared tonight "Mess with People's Names" night. Have at it! The only rule is that I am exempt from such tomfoolery!

The corners will take material off faster than the flats. If the edge is fairly dull, or you're trying to reprofile, I'd start with the corners. I always finish on the flats.

Thats what I normally do, you just do it the same way still with a recurve? I am probably imagining that it is worse than it really is and the shallot seems to have a pretty slight recurve anyways.

Yeah, the recurve in the shallot isn't anything major, at least you don't have to sharpen a bump (due to your apparent fear of recurve sharpening).

Congrats swimmerdude on another win! :D

Thanks again for the contest, SV!

Ray :)
