Meh, no problemo Auntihero. Just get a Sharpmaker. They work like a charm on recurves.
The corners will take material off faster than the flats. If the edge is fairly dull, or you're trying to reprofile, I'd start with the corners. I always finish on the flats.
Thats what I normally do, you just do it the same way still with a recurve? I am probably imagining that it is worse than it really is and the shallot seems to have a pretty slight recurve anyways.
