1000th soddie thread?

It's the ONLY knife you can truly say that you MUST have if you feel for knives!Esp the small one, it's just right for everything you normally need (could be improved if it had a lock...). Moreover, here like the Opinel is an absolutely timeless knife, that doesn't date, it works-constantly:thumbup:

I was mostly a tactical guy ( its not my fault I grew up watching Rambo) so bigger and stronger was always better. Three weeks ago I came here (slip jointing it) and man did I start to learn some stuff. Last night I picked up a Case soddie in yellow CV of course and I am floored. I love this knife and now I too am hooked!!! Quick question does the lemon juice hurt any other parts of the knife? In other words should I just put the lemon juice on the blade only?

Hey there clearytja,

Welcome to slippy world! No, lemon juice won't hurt anything, nor will viniger for a patina. Also sticking it in a patato for a few hours won't do any harm.

Where on the eastern shore are you???

Thats my home ground a whole bunch of years ago, I'm from just west of Cambridge out rt 343 towards Horn Point, and Lecompte Bay at the mouth of the Choptank.

I'm thinking of getting a Moore Maker version in yellow bone with carbon blades.

For those of you that have the sod buster, do you prefer it in the large 4 5/8" size or the small 3 1/2" size?

rkh, I prefer the Jr. model. It fits in the pocket better in my opinion.

Clearytja, welcome to the traditional side of life. Now, prepare for a love of knives like you never found in the tactical world.

I prefer small. Fits nicely in your pocket yet still fills your hand.

This should give you some perspective on the small sodbuster.

I used to preffer the large in my younger day, but over the years they more and more got left in the drawer and the small took over. Just plain handier, better fit in the pocket. I gave all the large ones away to family members who wanted them.

Small soddies are great!

jackknife, I am starting to see more and more the usefullness of these smaller great knives. btw live right out side of the city limits of Cambridge...I teach at CSD.

Wow! We're nieghbors in a way. Are you a native of the town, if so we may have run into one another long ago and not known it!.

Well, this evening an online acquaintance on another forum was selling a "new" Sodbuster Jr. (CV of course) for $15 shipped, so I just couldn't resist joining this esteemed fraternity. (Besides, I needed another yellow handle to go with the Copperlocks and small Congress.)

Its a beautiful thing to see all these people finding out about the yellow handle CV Sod jr. Hope you enjoy it for MANY years to come.

15 dollars? That's a fine bargain!

Would really like to get a Copperlock yellow handle with Wharncliffe but can't seem to locate a new one.

willgoy,

I may have some info for you. Standby for a message or email.

Thanks Blues! About to go to bed here as it's 12.30 local time, look forward to it though.

Don't you think you should advise him to keep it out of the joint?

Every time I read one of these threads, I'm tempted to go buy one of these. But then I actually go look at one, and they do nothing for me, really. No bolster, thick plastic handle, boring blade shape. But then somebody writes another thread about how neat they are, and then I think, "17 bucks at Lowe's wouldn't be bad for the experiment, to see if I would like it." And then I do the rest of my cycle of looking at them, and saying, I've got a nicer Case in my pocket, thanks. Happened tonight when I went there for some bolts -- had my yellow handle Copperlock CV Wharncliffe in my pocket that I've been carrying and using all week.

So I don't own one. Maybe someday, I'll be thinking I should get one at the same time as I'm at the store, and have cash for spending.
