This is a wood that is popular with the tourists but I don't know if the knife makers will like it or not. I need your opinions before I decide whether or not to cut up more of this wood. Blocks would sell in the $10 to $15 range. The wood has decent figure and sort of gold and olive coloring.

Please post your opinion and that will be your entry into the contest.
Monday afternoon I will use a random number generator to see which post number is the winner. Winner gets these blocks. 2 of the blocks have a couple bug holes on the other side that might sand away. Otherwise use them as paperweights.

Thanks for your help.

what kinda wood is that mark? or am i missing something? well i think it finnished hand rubbed with oil it may come alive!

I like it - looks like decent figure and chatoyance, how stable a wood is it?

Weird colored, Fakely dyed maple burl is ugly; that stuff is actually quite nice.

I like it. The darker 3 look the best, but I'd use 'em all. I think the hand rubbed finish with some oil, mentioned above, would make it look pretty slick also. A really light stain might look nice also, but I'd have to see it in my hand before I'd add any color. I don't think I've seen any piece of wood you had that would qualify for "ugly"!!

I really like that top right one. I like whats underneath the culy part.

If it takes a good finish and comes out looking somewhat like it does in the pictures then I think it's quite nice looking.

I'd buy some - preferably stabilized (if necessary).

BTW, since, if people hated the wood, they might not want to enter the drawing, so you might not get a good sampling of answers. Maybe if you changed it to "wins these blocks if favorable or a $20 credit (or whatever) at the store if they don't like it... :)
