That's uh sure something
That is always an option. Just to enable that a little further along...Too many choices. I should get them all!
I'm learning to love the S30V on my drop point 110 and I have found I can get touch up the edge on ceramic cups and bowls and even a car window edge. I have lived with 420 steel for so long, though, that I know I can rely on it and keep it tuned up easily. I find the 420 strops better, probably because it is not as hard, and that is often all I need to do after a day's work. But there is a lot of talk on BF about steel choices, so I won't belabor that point. You probably have various steels in your collection already and can judge what's best for you and your uses. You folks are fantastic! Thanks for all the advice. The photos have been very helpful as well.
I’m a really nostalgic person and I like tradition. When it comes down to it, the clip point is the classic 110. I’m a huge drop point fan in general, and I imagine I’ll check one out in the future, but I think the standard variant is where my money should go.
Now I need to decide between S30V and 420HC. I live on the pacific coast, so these Stainless options are ideal. Great edge holding while being a bit tough to sharpen versus so-so edge holding while being able to sharpen on a rock or bottom of a mug. Hmm..
Too many choices. I should get them all!
(Again, cheers for the help guys. In the extremely unlikely event I win the lottery tomorrow night, you’re all getting a 110 from the custom shop on me!)
The conundrum of choice put so elegantly. nicely done.OK, here we go again...
Which blade to get, drop point or clip
Is a question that plagues us all.
The problem is, what kind of tip
May not be a simplistic call.
Do you need a knife that can take
Some type of an intricate line?
Or will you want one that can make
Short work of a gnarly old vine?
There's an option for what to do
To address the thing you beseech.
After weighing a point or two --
Eureka! Just get one of each!
Great job on the photography and the selection of knives is terrific!
Thank you... the 2 on top were former Xmas presents for my sons... I buy them nicer knives than I buy for myself!Great job on the photography and the selection of knives is terrific!
I wonder how many different types of those there are? I am guessing 6. I have the "freedom" one and I am about to get the one that has BUCK on the handle but I am always on the lookout for those. Are they all from SMKW?I agree. Get 1 of each.

This particular knife was a custom Joe Houser made Feb. 2020. I am not sure if he made more than one with this blade configuration and materials.I wonder how many different types of those there are? I am guessing 6. I have the "freedom" one and I am about to get the one that has BUCK on the handle but I am always on the lookout for those. Are they all from SMKW?
Edit: I just realized that I missed the point. The ones I was talking about are both clip points. Don't know how to delete post.
hi, would you be be willing to sell one of those drop points?Tough call. Let me help.
